Desing of H_∞ Receding Horizon Predictive Control for Boiler Systems

In this paper, we suggest a H_∞ receding horizon predictive control (HRHPC) and apply it to a boiler system in order to reduce the effects of load disturbances. The HRHPC is an output feedback control and obtained by solving the min-max problem in nonrecursive forms. For SISO systems, which can be represented in ARMAX model, the stability conditions of HRHPC is obtained by examining the monotonicity of a cost function and it is proved that the ℓ - 2 norm of the mapping from disturbance to output is bounded under the same conditions of stability. For MIMO systems, HRHPC contains state estimator and it is applied to Boiler systems. It was shown that HRHPC can yield better performance than conventional PID control when a load change is occured, through simulations.
