In this study, diffusion coefficients of 20 kDa FITC-dextran in 2% agarose gel with different cell concentrations were measured using fiberoptic-based fluorescence recovery after photobleaching technique. As increasing cell concentration suspended in agarose gel, the diffusion coefficients were decreased. The diffusion coefficient of agarose gel which contains 10×106 cells/ml was decreased to 11% that of in agarose gel without cells. The distribution of fluorescence dye in 3D scaffold was also simulated. The simulation result shows that the diffusion coefficient is more significant factor than the scaffold structure.

The study was aimed to investigate university students’ conceptions on three genetic concepts (Gene, DNA, chromosome). The study was carried out with 166 undergraduate students. To reveal students’ ideas about the three concepts, they were asked to complete a free word association test by using the term ‘gene’ as a stimulus word and to respond the following open questions: What is a gene, DNA, and chromosome in your opinion? Lastly, they were asked to draw the structure of gene, DNA and chromosome in a cell. Through network analysis and classification of their responses based on content similarities, the frequent concepts associated with gene were confirmed and their ideas about the three concepts were categorized. The students had alternative ideas about the three investigated concepts. In particular, more alternative concepts were observed for gene compared to DNA and chromosome. The drawing test revealed that their understandings was especially poor for the relationship between the three concepts. The results were compared with related literature and recommendations are provided.
제7차 교육과정의 생물 2 교과서와 2009 개정 교육과정의 생명과학 2 교과서의 기술된 산화적 인산화에 관한 분석

이 연구는 제7차 교육과정의 생물 Ⅱ 교과서와 2009 개정 교육과정의 생명과학 Ⅱ 교과서에 기술된 산화적 인산화에 관한 내용을 비교 분석하기 위해 수행되었다. 연구 결과 전자 전달계 관련 효소와 조효소에 대한 설명에서 교과시간 많은 차이를 보였으며 전자 전달계를 통해 어떻게 ATP가 생성되는지에 대한 설명에서는 제7차 교육과정의 교과서와 2009 개정 교육과정의 교과서간에 큰 차이를 보였고, 제7차 교육과정의 교과서 내에서도 많은 차이를 보이고 있음을 발견하였다. 1분자의 NAEH와 FADH2로부터 각각 생성되는 ATP의 양에 대한 설명과, 1분자의 포도당으로부터 생성해 낼 수 있는 총 ATT의 숫자에 대한 설명에서도 제7차 교육과정 교과서와 2009 개정 교육과정 교과서간에 많은 차이가 있음을 발견하였고, 2009 개성 교육과정의 교과서들 간에서도 서로 다른 서술을 하고 있음을 알게 되었다. 해당작용의 결과 만들어진 세포질의 NADH가 전자전달계에 참여하여 생성하는 ATP의수에 대하여는 교과서에 따라 다양한 방법으로 설명하고 있으며 일부 충분치 않은 실명이나 오개념을 갖게 할 위험성이 있는 서술들도 발견되었다. 교과서 별로 중요 개념에 대한 설명에서 차이가 있음으로 야기될 수 있는 학생들의 혼란이나 국가 수준의 평가에서 문제가 될 가능성이 없도록 산화적 인산화와 같이 오개념이 포함된 다양한 서술이 나타나는 중요 개념에 대해서는 교육과정과 교육과정 해설서에 최소 필수 내용요소를 제시하거나 교과서의 수정을 권고할 필요성이 있다고 생각된다. This research was carried out to analyze the descriptions of oxidative phosphorylation in Biology Ⅱ textbooks of the 7th curriculum and Life Science Ⅱ textbooks of the 2009 revised curriculum. Each textbook in both categories gave different explanations as regards the following factors: 1) the components involved in the electron transport and ATP synthesis, 2) the mechanism of ATP production in mitochondrial electron transport system, 3) the number of ATP molecules produced from one molecule of mitochondrial NADH or FADH2, 4) the number of ATP molecules produced from cytoplasmic NADH, and 5) the total amount of ATP molecules generated aerobically from a molecule of glucose. Explanations that can lead students to have a wrong concept about oxidative phosphorylation were found in some textbooks, which definitely need correction. Different explanations in textbooks regarding the important concepts have the risk of leading students to confused understanding and can cause problems in developing nationwide evaluation questions. So we recommend the identification of ``minimal learning contents`` to be included in biology curriculum, especially regarding the introduction of the concepts that have the possibility of different explanations like in the case of cxdiative phosphorylation.
유전자알고리즘을 이용한 영상분할 문턱값의 자동선정에 관한 연구

In this paper, we focus on the issue of automatic selection for multi-level threshold, and we greatly improve the efficiency of Otsu’s method for image segmentation based on genetic algorithm. We have investigated and evaluated the performance of the Otsu and Valley-emphasis threshold methods. Based on this observation we propose a method for automatic threshold method that segments an image into more than two regions with high performance and processing in real-time. Our paper introduced new peak detection, combines with evolution algorithm using MAGA (Modified Adaptive Genetic Algorithm) and HCA (Hill Climbing Algorithm), to find the best threshold automatically, accurately, and quickly. The experimental results show that the proposed evolutionary algorithm achieves a satisfactory segmentation effect and that the processing time can be greatly reduced when the number of thresholds increases.
