This paper seeks to be comprehensive and definitive in describing the main characteristics of clinical social work practice of psychoanalysis, and in identifying various practice skills used by clinical social workers in this specialty. In clinical social work, psychoanalysis is conducted by an experienced and skilled clinical social worker who treats those experiencing disturbances in affect, thought, and behavior. Psychoanalytic social workers draw on a well-defined knowledge base derived from theoretical constructs, applied practice methodologies, and a highly developed set of specialized practice skills and activities.Psychoanalysis is defined as a method of psychotherapeutic intervention and a practice skill utilized by trained clinical social workers in order to ameliorate mental disorders that interfere with the client's satisfactory functioning. It is conducted with frequency and intensity, and seeks to bring unconscious mental elements and processes into the client's awareness, where they may be explored and understood. The unconscious material that has been brought into awareness is addressed by social workers and clients through various techniques, including exploration, clarification, confrontation, and interpretation. In conclusion my work will serve as a source for developing standards for an certification to be offered to advanced practitioners in the specialty area of psychoanalysis. This article deals with the psychoanalytic techniques applied to casework as a social welfare practice. I illustrate the psychoanalytic contribution to casework in the level of research method, and then set an example to the potency of speech in those encounters between clients and social workers by presenting some aspects of my analytic work with one particular client suffering from phobia or anxiety hysteria, work which extended over eight months. The method of psychoanalytic casework is designed as a "dialogue" to create optical conditions for the development of the relationship between clients and social workers. Psychoanalytic casework is the attempt to establish and maintain a dialogue between the two. With clinical data to be plumbed in the project of "transference" interpretation, the aims of psychoanalytic method became clearer: namely, to shed light on the unconscious phantasy of clients by providing a kind of playground in which the compulsion to repeat early traumatic experiences could be given expression and then thought about. Actually, the putting into words, in my presence, of Miss W's traumatic experiences made them dramatically real. Finding her tongue, discovering her own speech made Miss W's narrative her own, in which she would find her place. What had happened in her childhood was then no longer to be lived out as cruel and arbitrary destiny but as events that he could tolerate. In the telling of her tale psychic trauma - Lacan called it "the real" - fixed to paternal figure that is essential to sado-masochist affects had become transmuted into linguistic symbols. In conclusion psychoanalytic casework is basically characterized, by its practitioners, as the projection of particular affects, such as pain, dread and guilty etc. because they are concretely exposed by everyday speech. Worth mentioning this, casework can be understood as the studies of unconscious power operation - sorts of signification structured by power relations - with projecting particular affects into the others.
