도서관의 어린이청소년 연구지원 기능과 역할에 관한 연구

The purpose of this study is to provide libraries with several suggestions which might be helpful for designing their services to support researches related with children and young adults. In this paper as a case study, six libraries from Korea, German, Japan, the United States are selected and analyzed by their roles, services, collections and programs by utilizing their web sites.

문헌정보학 연구방향에 관한 연구 - 국내 선행연구를 중심으로 -

본 연구의 목적은 문헌정보학 연구동향 및 연구방법론에 관련된 국내 연구들을 분석함으로서 앞으로의 국내 문헌정보학 연구방향을 제언하고자 한다. 이를 위한 분석 자료로 90년대 이후 문헌정보학의 연구동향 및 연구방법론에 관련된 10편의 국내 연구들을 선정하여 세 그룹으로 나눈 후 조사.분석한다. 분석결과 정보학 분야에 연구의 관심이 집중되고 문헌연구와 조사연구 등이 많이 사용된다. 주 연구자는 교수 그룹이며 학제간의 연구 및 여러 계층의 공동연구가 부족하다. 연구결과 기존의 연구방법뿐만 아니라 새로운 연구방법에 관한 논의와 다각적인 연구의 필요성이 요구된다. 또한 이러한 논의는 계속적으로 이루어져야 하며 문헌정보학 전문가를 위한 연구기반 지식의 개발과 문헌정보학의 연구기준의 필요성이 강조된다. The purpose of this article is to give the consideration to possible future research trends and methodological trends of library and information science in Korea. In order to do that, it reviews 10 research papers that are associated with research trends and methodological trends in library and information science and have been published since 1990 in Korea. These 10 papers are divided by three groups for the analysis. The results show that relatively new and various research methods as well as traditional ones should be provided to library and information science. In addition. the research-based knowledge for the library and information science professionals and research method standards for them should be developed.

본 논문에서는 한국비블리아학회 2002년 추계학술발표회 때 발표된 논문과 최근에 공공도서관에 관련된 선행연구를 중심으로 우리나라와 미국 공공도서관의 변화와 관련 이슈에 대하여 살펴본 후 지식기반사회에서의 공공도서관의 역할을 재조명함으로써 우리나라공공도서관의 발전에 일조를 하고자 한다. 인터넷의 등장과 기술의 영향으로 공공도서관의 사명과 사서의 역할은 변화하였으며 또한 공공도서관의 다양한 분야에서도 변화를 맞고 있다. 이러한 변화는 인터넷의 새로운 기술과 함께 사회적 변화와 맞물러 계속 진행될 것이다. This paper reviews the articles which are presented the 2002 Fall Conference of the Korean Biblia Society for Library and Information Science and recent articles regarding public libraries. Based on that, transformations of the public library in both Korea and America are discussed including related issues. The internet has changed the public library’mission and librariens’roles, as well as other areas. Public library transformations will not only be dictated through technology, but society as well.

도서관 홈페이지 설계에 관한 연구 - 인터페이스와 정보자료구성을 중심으로

본 연구에서는 도서관 홈페이지의 효율적인 활용을 위하여 도서관 홈페이지가 갖추어야 할 기본 지침을 제공하고자 한다. 국내의 7개 도서관 홈페이지를 사례연구로 선정하여 도서관 홈페이지의 인터페이스 측면과 정보자료구성 측면을 중심으로 조사 분석하였다. 선정된 도서관 홈페이지는 정보자료 구성상 5가지 공통된 서비스로 그룹지울 수 있으며 한편 고유한 특징도 갖고 있었다. 연구결과는 도서관 홈페이지 제작시 고려해야 할 제반 사항들을 제시하고 있다. The purpose of this study is to increase the effective utilization of library homepages by providing design guidelines. Seven of the library homepages are selected and have their menus of library homepages do share Each library homepage has it's own distinct characteristics, however the library homepages do share five common services : User Service. OPAC, CD-ROM Search, DB Search, Related Sites, Other Services. The result of this study can be used as the basic data for researching of library homepage's interface designs and collection development of electronic information.

This study investigated secondary materials of children and young adults materials produced by domestic and foreign countries. In order to do that, characteristics and present states of bibliographies, indexes, union catalogs, major journals were examined while bibliography, index and catalog were defined. This study results showed that there were no bibliography and index for children and young adults materials but only recommended book catalogs and award book catalogs were produced in Korea. There were however many various second materials in foreign countries.

Databases publicly available for online searching permit both citation and subject searching, however, subject searching has dominated the online search environment. Despite the power of citation searching, it may be underutilized. This study explored the relationship between the number of cited references used in a citation search and information retrieval effectiveness, a relatively unstudied phenomenon. Three articles in the library and information science literature were chosen to represent sample questions. Cited reference searches were conducted for each article and each of its references. All searches were conducted in Social Scisearch and Scisearch on DIALOG. Relevance judgments on the retrieved citations were obtained from the authors of the original articles. This research focused on analyzing, in terms of information retrieval effectiveness, the overlap among postings sets retrieved by various combinations of cited references. The findings from the three case studies clearly showed that the more cited references used for the citation search, the better the performance, in terms of retrieving more relevant documents, up to a point of diminishing returns. In addition, generally the overall level of overlap among relevant documents sets was found to be low. Therefore, if only some of the cited references among many candidates are used for a citation search, a significant proportion of relevant documents may be missed. The analysis of the characteristics of cited references provided the ways to predict which cited references would be useful to improve information retrieval. The findings of this comprehensive exploratory study are of interest for both theoretical and practical reasons. They contribute to the development of a theoretical model for the effective use of the citation search. This model might also be implemented in operational online systems. In addition, the findings potentially will help online searchers improve their search strategies using the citation search so that they can better achieve their information retrieval goals: the retrieval of items relevant to a given question and suppression of nonrelevant items

본 연구의 목적은 도서관 장서개발정책 성명서를 준비하는 우리나라 도서관을 위한 기초 자료를 제공하는데 있다. 이를 위하여 선행연구를 토대로 선정한 10가지 항목을 사용하여 국가도서관 5곳과 공공도서관 2곳을 사례연구방법으로 조사분석하였다. 사례들의 특징과 조사항목 분석을 통해서 5가지 지침을 제안하였다. The purpose of this study is to provide guidelines of library collection development policies statements. As a case study, 5 national and 2 public libraries are selected and analyzed by using 10 elements, which were drawn from existing studies, for examining collection development policy statements. The results show several suggestions which may help the people who is interested in preparing collection development policy statements.
