Image blurring caused by mirror vibration are studied. Possible causes of image blurring are reviewed, including road inputs and engine vibration inputs through vehicle body, and a variety of aerodynamic inputs. Experiments are carried out to understand the relative influence of the causes of vibration with real ear. Influence of experimental noise factor such as mass of accelerometers, mounting positions and mirror setting angles are studied. On road test and wind tunnel test are carried out to differentiate the mechanical vibration and aerodynamic vibration from the real vibration of on road driving. Strategic countermeasure is roughly proposed in this paper.

Although the rear side window buffeting has the same generation mechanism of the sunroof buffeting, few feasible measures have not been suggested yet because of the restrictions by the aspect of styling and vehicle structure. The former research on this topic said that measures to control the buffeting strength can be cascaded in three categories; Aerodynamic force control, buffeting frequency control and Q-factor control, and revealed that the buffeting frequency control is the most practical measure. This study is likely to describe the concrete measure to change the buffeting frequency and will show parameters that should be considered at the design stage. This study also shows that the rear window opening aperture has a strong relationship with the buffeting strength and its frequency through the multivariable analysis. Based on the results of this study, design guides to reduce the rear window buffeting according to door types are suggested..
