Vol.22 No.3

Purpose: This study aims to suggest the spatial composition and area of the intensive care units through analysis of current situation for the standards establishment of the intensive care units in public district hospitals in the future. Methods: Three Methods have been used in this paper. 1) Literature reviews about composition, location, foreign standards on intensive care units. 2) Comparative analysis on the architectural drawing for the space program and the area. 3) Field survey in order to confirm differences between architectural drawing and current situation. Results: 1) The intensive care units is required to be linked by the operating department, the emergency department and the sterile supply department upon considerations of accessibility of emergency patients and the infection control. 2) The intensive care unit consists of five areas such as the patient area, the medical staff area, the material and equipment area, the patient family area, and the public area. 3) The location of spaces in the intensive care unit is classified by three methods such as connection by view, circulation and connection to corridor. The [table 20] summarizes the type of space and the average size of the space in intensive care unit. Implications: This study is a basic research for guideline of intensive care units, and need to be followed by further study using various perspectives and methods in the future.

Vol.12 No.2

Angiography means that a check up to know an abnormal condition in all the blood vessels include from the heart, aortae, cerobrovascular and abdonominal artery to hands and feet. Main examples of this are cerebral angiography, abdominal, liver for urinary anomaly, renovascular angiography, and artery and vein in arms and legs. Angiography uses radial rays or angiography equipment for an image output during interventional procedure and compositive diagnosis. The acts which performed in a projection room have changed drastically. In general, it is performed by using equipment which is attached one or two C-arms and the method of inserting catheter in vein after anesthesia. For this reason, some rooms that consist of angiography room units should be planned not only for expensiveness equipment and facilities also to be germ-free. Nowadays, in the angiography unit case, it is placed independently as the central part of many hospitals. It does not belong to the imaging medical department any more as considering raising filming times and the relation between C.C.U.(coronary care unit) and operation unit. This means the acts performed are diversified and well-organized rooms in support of diagnosis are required. However, it is difficult to plan the angiography room unit due to domestic researches and data on this unit are not enough. Therefore, this study aims at bringing up basic issue for architectural planning of the angiography unit in general hospital.

Vol.25 No.3

Purpose: To establish guidelines for local public hospitals, the survey was conducted primarily on the current status of local public hospitals, focusing on the zone configuration and the spatial area of the operating department. Methods: 3 Methods have been used in this paper. 1) Analyzing drawings to derive the net floor area of each room. 2) A literature survey about composition of the zone by infection control. 3) Observation survey for user circulation analysis. Results: The operation department consists of the major, secondary, support and connected zones according to the user's actions. The spatial area composition ratio for each zone is major zone: 41.79%, secondary zone: 10.87%, support zone: 23.10%, and connected zone: 24.24%. Implications: This study is a basic research for guideline for the operation department in local public hospitals. In this study, zones configuration of the operation departments are classified in terms of user actions and room functions. In the future, it is required to establish criteria considering infection control and copper connection aspects.

Vol.25 No.4

Purpose: To establish the building guidelines and to analyze the function of Regional Public Hospitals, the survey was conducted primarily on the current status focusing on the location and relationship of the department, area composition ratio, area per bed, and area per operating room. Methods: The research methods of this paper are as follows. 1) A literature survey on the function of the operating and related departments, 2) A drawing analysis for spatial composition and net area calculation. Results: The area of the Operation Department in the Regional Public Hospitals with 200 to 300 beds are as follows. Area ratio: 3.35%, area per Bed: 2.53㎡/bed, the number of beds per operating room: 64.37bed, area per operating room: 146.46㎡/n, area per operating room by plan type: integration corridor 133.84㎡/n, separation corridor 184.82㎡/n. Implications: This paper analyzed data on the current state of Operation Departments for setting up the function and role for the Regional Public Hospital. In the future, it is also required to provide size that takes into account user behavior and the user's psychological aspect in order to suggest appropriate area.

Vol.12 No.3

Planning for the space of the Media Medical Department requires the details about the efficiency of the equipment and the operation in professional sector. For that, as designing, it is necessary to keep communicating with the experts on the technology and the officials from the company producing the equipment. One of the common concerns is not only how to insure enough room for the future extension and the upgrade of the equipment, as concerning the scale of the hospital, but the plan to cover movie cameras. As technology has been developed, despite the fact that machinery tend to be small, it can be possible to require continuously about the concerns of the scale because the camera taking body-picture tend to be much bigger and more complicated than before. Currently used diagnostic media techniques are divided by the method and the feature of the equipment such as Diagnostic X-ray, Ultrasound, CT, MRI, Angiography. The general and special photographing units which are used more than the other diagnostic parts, must be planned not for experiencing any inconvenience and unnecessary risks for the patients and must accept technical requirements. Also, it must be designed not to be seen as a clinic zone, as concerning the psychological stability of the patients. However, study of the general and special photographing units among the domestic general hospitals is insufficient. Also, as there is shortage of the material considering the development of the equipment, when planning, it's involving a lot of difficulties. Thus, this study has got a purpose on giving the basic material which is essential for further study, as suggesting the planning guidelines and the alternative plans for the general and special photographing units in a general hospital.
