This article critically examines the development process of the “Bitcoin Narrative” course, designed within the Industry-Coupled Project/Problem-Based Learning (IC-PBL) framework. It explores how humanities respond to the technological advancements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. By shifting the perspective from a defensive stance to proactive engagement and practical application, the article highlights IC-PBL’s role in connecting humanities with the evolving technological landscape. The narrative of Bitcoin is used as a case study to investigate this intersection, delving into its philosophical, economic, and cultural origins. This approach also analyzes how Bitcoin’s development reflects broader trends in technology and society. The article addresses how Bitcoin’s initial anti-establishment ethos is gradually transforming towards institutionalization and regulatory acceptance. This shift underscores the evolving social context of technological innovations and the unpredictable nature of their impact on society. The “Bitcoin Narrative” course, as outlined in this article, aims to provide students with a critical understanding of Bitcoin’s influence on the humanities. It explores the ethical, social, and cultural dimensions of this digital currency. The course structure facilitates a comprehensive exploration of Bitcoin’s multifaceted implications, encouraging students to think critically about the intersection of technology and humanities.

Defining Chang-rae Lee’s 1995 Native Speaker as a touchstone by which one can assess the limits and promises of the writer, this article examines the ways in which Lee carves out a niche as an ethnic writer and tries to go beyond such a labeling in his debut. A dilemma for a person caught between two worlds like Henry is to live within the hyphen that defines his or her identity and yet to be able to articulate the hyphenation. Can one transgress or transcend the hyphen itself without obviating any possibility of articulation and representation? Compared to Henry’s father who is a successful first-generation Korean immigrant, Kwang figures as a man whose political goals expand the purview of family loyalty honored by Henry’s father and encompass all immigrants, all nationalities. Kwang refuses to remain simply “a minority politician.” John Kwang’s political enterprise is not simply a matter of establishing himself and resisting the dominant culture that seeks to marginalize him. It becomes rather a space wherein a contingent formation of Asian American identity appears in relation to multiple identifications which are themselves driven by specific contingencies. Lee illustrates how Henry and Kwang as Asian Americans belong to neither of the identities mediated by the hyphen in the strident, aggressive atmosphere of New York City, a microcosm of multiethnic America. As such, Henry’s dilemma is merged with and expanded into John Kwang’s project of political affiliation, thereby bringing into sharp relief the question of how not to be “another ethnic pol” overlaps with that of how not to be another ethnic writer.

Concurring with global framings of Asian American cultural productions and their increasing impact on literary studies in Korean academia, not a few Korean scholars and students have been recently initiated into the field of Asian American literature. This change is hailed for a very salutary purpose because it helps Korean scholars reterritorialize single-nation genealogies and mono-national narratives in the conceptualization of American culture. It also helps them develop a critical consciousness to situate themselves within a broader understanding of the (Asian) American experience in a globally interconnected, racialized, and capitalist United States. However, it is still hard to assert that Korean scholars have developed any critical consciousness, with which they can find themselves on various sides of issues and make sense of their fluid, seemingly contradictory positions in reading Asian American literature. While it is meaningful to shake ourselves out of apathy and into taking a stand by finding a “common ground” based upon strong racial, cultural, historial, and lingual affinities with Asian America, it also runs a risk of reiterating a neat alignment of identity and knowledge production?an analogy between knowledge of subjects and the subject of knowledge. What is needed, then, is to relocate our own placement from which we read Asian American literature. Are the “Asian American” that we appropriate in reading Asian American literature and the “Asian American” interpellated by U.S.-based scholars identical? How is the latter constructed and contested vis-?-vis our own discursive loci “here”and “now”? How can Asian America speak for the “Asian American” without re-consolidating the borders and contours of the “Asian American” as an uncritically “American” identification? With these questions in mind, I attempt to bring into sharp relief the ways in which we can make sense of local, national, and global aspects of Asian American literature by examining how “our” own Asian American literature and Asian America’s Asian American literature can recognize the reciprocity of each other’s gaze without redeeming each side's narcissistic gestures in the name of broadening the field beyond the confines and constraints of the local, the national, and the global.

1-D system analysis for the lubrication network of an engine is popular by reasons of comparatively fast and cheap computation. However, the characteristics of whole lubrication network are influenced by bearing dynamic behavior. This paper presents a numerical study to investigate the accuracy of engine lubrication network analysis results obtained by 1-D system analysis and hybrid system analysis. Whilst the one uses only 1-D models to represent the lubrication components, the other, here, reflects elasto-hydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) effect of the main bearings in 1-D system analysis. Oil pressure, pressure drop and flow rate attained by the two analyses are compared to the experimental results.

The engine mount bracket should be designed to attenuate the vibration transfer from engine to body. In addition, it should have a good fatigue property to endure enough the load transmitted from road while a car is running. In this paper we perform the vibration analysis using the finite element model of the engine mount bracket to identify the dynamically weak areas in high frequencies. This paper also presents the fatigue analysis results, describing the positions at which the bracket reveals low-cycle fatigue life in low frequencies. The areas showing the unsatisfied characteristics in durability in low and high frequencies have been redesigned by topology optimization.
