        Anti-Apoptotic Effect of Rheum undulatum Water Extract in Pancreatic β-cell Line, HIT-T15

        Sopungsungi-won has been used as a traditional medicine for diabetes and it has been proved to be a potential remedy for type 2 diabetes mellitus. We previously reported that water extract of Sopungsungi-won exhibits anti-diabetic effects both in vivo and in vitro experiments. In the present study, we have chosen to examined anti-apoptotic effect of Rheum undulatum, which is the main component of Sopungsungi-won, on pancreatic β-cells, HIT-T15, against hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). oxidative stress. To investigate the anti-apoptotic effect of Rheum undulatum water extract (RUWE) against H2O2-induced apoptosis in pancreatic β-cell line of hamster, HIT-T15, MTT assay, DAPI staining, TUNEL assay, RT-PCR and caspase-3 enzyme assay were performed. The morphological analysis demonstrated that cells treated with H2O2 exhibited classical apoptotic features, while such changes was reduced in cells pre-treated with RUWE. In addition, RUWE pre-treated cells prior to H2O2 treatment induced increase of levels of bcl-2 expression and decrease of caspase-3 enzyme activity compared to cells treated with H2O2 only. These results provide the possibility of usage of RU in patients with progressively deteriorated diabetes.

      • "동의보감(東醫寶鑑)"의 이병(耳病) 처방(處方) 연구(硏究)

        Donguibogam, Korea's cultural heritage and traditional Oriental medicine book listed in the World Heritage three years ago, is indeed great in its importance and value. Korea's posterity has sought treatment methods through the medical book and their researches on that book have continued. However, it is rare to make the concrete analysis on the medicines for prescriptions recorded in the book. In this study, we reviewed "Ears" in the Section "Bodily Appearance" among the five chapters of Donguibogam, and analyzed the 55 types of prescriptions for ear diseases, the medical characteristics, tastes, prime classification of medical herbs, and acupunctural effects, and the dosage forms depending on prescriptions. For insect-entering ear diseases and 20 kinds of a single-medicine prescription also, the treatments are presented in the book, but we presented the texts only and excluded them in the analysis. We also excluded overlapping prescriptions and adding and reducing prescriptions of the 55 prescriptions, and thus classified the left 42 proscriptions by dosage form. As a result: 1. With respect to medical characteristics, the medicine with warm characteristics reached 9 types(40.9%), the highest rate, followed by the medicine with cold characteristics 8 types (36.4%). 2. Concerning medical tastes, the medicine with bitter taste included 12 types (54.5%), the medicine with sour taste 10 types (45.5%), and the medicine with sweet taste 7 types (31.8%). It was unusual that of the 22 medicines used for multipurpose, no medicine with the taste was found. 3. For the acupunctural effects, the medicine with acupuncture effects for spleen medirian reached 12 types in total (54.5%). On the contrary, the medicine with the effects for pericardium meridian reached only one (4.5%) among the total of 22 medicines. 4. In the dosage form of 42 prescriptions, powder medicine was 15 types (35.7%), and decoction medicine was 14 (33.3%). Powder, dedoction, and pill medicines accounted for 90.4% of the total medicine type. It was found that in particular, for ear diseases powder medicine was used more frequently than decoction medicine.

        모바일 단말을 위한 슬라이딩 윈도우 모델 기반의 상황인지 개인화된 사용자 인터페이스 생성 기법

        As smartphones are widespread, the number of applications that can be used in smartphones is increasing. Mobile environment which differs from the desktop environment has a limited size display. Because the amount of information on a display is limited, it is difficult to find an application you want in the display. Therefore, there is a need for a method of providing a list of applications needed for users. An existing User interface is stayed to provide an interface by analyzing the usage patterns of the application that was used in a certain time. In this paper, we present a context-aware personalized user interface generation method added spatial context to the existing research using only temporal context. It makes it easy for analyzing the time usage pattern to apply the time domination value in a repeated usage pattern at a specific time. Location information of the user recognizes the user’s location by analyzing the GPS (Global Positioning System) data. Based on this, analyzing application usage patterns using Sliding Window model can make a Personalized User LockScreen Application. Through the personalized user application list, users can remove the discomfort to find a particular application among all the applications of the smartphone, and thus it can increase the users convenience of smartphones. 스마트폰의 대중화로 많은 애플리케이션이 출시되어 사용자가 설치하여 사용하고 있는 애플리케이션도 점점 증가하고 있다. 하드웨어의 발전으로 스마트폰의 성능은 증가하고 있지만 휴대기기의 특성상 디스플레이의 크기의 증가는 한계가 있다. 한정된 디스플레이 크기로 인해 사용자에게 꼭 필요한 정보만을 화면에 표시해줄 필요가 있으며, 메뉴를 최적화하려는 노력이 끊임없이 이루어져왔다. 기존의 동적 사용자 인터페이스생성 방식은 특정 시간에 사용한 애플리케이션의 사용 패턴을 분석하거나 센서 정보를 사용한 단편적 정보를사용하여 동적인 인터페이스를 제공하는 것에 그쳤다. 본 논문은 기존의 시간별 사용 패턴을 분석한 연구에서 장소라는 상황인지를 추가한 개인화된 사용자 인터페이스 생성 기법을 제안하고자 한다. 사용자의 위치정보는 GPS 데이터를 분석하여 사용자가 어떤 장소에있는지 인지하고, 인지된 장소를 기반으로 애플리케이션 사용 패턴을 슬라이딩 윈도우 모델로 분석한 후 개인화된 사용자 인터페이스를 생성한다. 제공된 개인화된 애플리케이션 목록을 통해 사용자는 스마트폰의 메뉴에서 애플리케이션을 찾는 불편함을 제거할 수 있어 사용의 편익을 증가시킬 수 있다.

        자동차 에어 브레이크 스프링 고정용 SCM435 볼트의 파손 해석

        This study analyzed the causes of failure of SCM435 bolts that fix the springs of automobile air brakes that have been fractured during use. The cause of failure was analyzed using SEM, EDS, metallogical microscope and Vickers hardness tester. In the fracture, the ratchet mark began at the outer boundary of crack origin, and the grains at crack origin were found to have clear intergranular corrosion. One SCM435 bolt was subjected to a stress of 398 MPa, it’s a stress of about 80% of the fatigue limit. As a result of such a large applied stress, cracks occurred at the corrosion origin and were fractured. In order to prevent the SCM435 bolt from fracture, it is necessary to use the correct composition, the accuracy of heat treatment, preventing damage by external impact, preventing corrosion of the damage part by moisture, and introduction a compressive residual stress by peening.
