        북한 통신대학 영어교과서 어휘에 대한 코퍼스 기반 분석

        This paper uses corpus linguistics to examine reading passages of an English textbook used in North Korean correspondence universities. The English textbook was compiled into corpora and processed using Antconc and The Complete Lexical Tutor. From the corpus, high-frequency content terms and a keyword list were extracted and compared to the BNC reference corpora. Additionally, the corpus was categorized into the GSL (General Service List) and AWL (Academic Word List). The findings are as follows: (1) the vocabulary in the textbook is more varied than that found in North Korean middle school or first middle school English textbooks. (2) The terms related to the “Kim Jong Il system,” “science,” “technology,” and “labor” frequently appeared in the texts and are classified as positive keywords. (3) About 93% of the texts contain GSL K1 and K2 words, whereas 2% of the texts have AWL terms. The results demonstrate that adult English education in North Korea is designed for those who have completed their education in general middle schools, with a focus on strengthening vocabulary and increasing word variety. This education is provided to workers so they can learn about science and become technologically savvy, thus upholding the country’s system. (Korea National University of Education)

        수업시간에 영소설 읽기

        The aim of high school English education in Korea can be said to be communicative competence, based on the power to think and explore. Extensive reading, especially young adult literature, can be a powerful approach toward achieving this goal, but introducing novels into regular high school classes in Korea is not a simple task. This article is based on my experience of teaching the novels the Midwife's Apprentice, the Witches, and Hatchet, in one of the science high schools in Seoul, where I was permitted to freely design the English curriculum. The first thing to consider ie selecting the novels and organizing the course schedule. this raises issues such as which novels are appropriate for Korean high school students, the criteria for the priority in which novels should be read, and what activities can be implemented for each novel. The second thing is choosing appropriate teaching methods, since the traditional method of focusing on grammar and translation can dilute th advantages of studying novels, The teacher should encourage students to read and enjoy novels on their own, then discuss and share their ideas and thoughts together. The last thing is assessment and evaluation. To be successful, lessons should be closely intertwined with assessment and also satisfy the students' urgent need to develop their English skills. To determine whether the course achieved its goal and to upgrade course materials and methods, analyzing student evaluations of the course is critical.

        Due to a growing interest in sustainability and control of raw material costs in all types of industrial production, use of Natural oil polyol has become more and more popular in the Polyurethane foam industry. This study describes work focused on replacing petroleum based polyols with castor based polyols in flexible foam application. As a result of development, we applied 10% biomass seat foam with based on castor oil.

        대구광역시 고등학생들의 성별에 따른 학업성취 영향요인 간 구조적 관계 -교사관계만족도, 자기효능감, 수업태도의 매개효과를 중심으로-

        본 연구는 대구광역시 교육실태 자료를 사용하여 대구광역시 고등학생의 학업성취에 영향을 미치는 요인들 간의 구조적 관계에 대해 성별에 따른 차이를 탐색하고자 수행되었다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 가정의 사회자 본, 자기효능감, 수업태도가 학생들의 학업성취에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 드러났다. 가정의 사회자본은 교사관계만족도, 자기효능감, 수업태도를 매개로 학업성취에 간접 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 하지만 교사관계 만족도는 학생들의 학업성취에 직접적인 영향을 미치지 않고 자기효능감과 수업태도를 매개로 학업성취에 간접영향을 미치는 것으로 드러났다. 또한 자기효능감은 수업태도를 매개로 하여 학업성취에 간접영향을 미치는 것으로 드러났다. 둘째, 남녀집단에 따른 차이를 분석한 결과 가정의 사회자본에 따른 학업성취는 남녀집단 간 차이 없이 유사하다는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 교사관계만족도에서 자기효능감으로 가는 경로와 자기효능감에서 학업성취로 가는 경로에서 남학생이 여학생에 비해 자기효능감에 교사관계만족도의 영향을 더 많이 받으며, 자기효능감이 학업성취에 더 강력하게 영향을 준다는 것이 판명되었다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 학생들의 학업성취를 높일 수 있는 방안들에 대해 논의하였다. This study was conducted to explore the gender differences of academic achievement and to find the structural relationship of factors that influence the academic achievement among high school students in Daegu. The Daegu educational field survey was used to gather the data. The results of our investigation are as follows. First, social capital, self-efficacy and class attitudes were found to have significant influence on students’ academic achievement. Social capital at home had an indirect impact on academic achievement mediating the satisfaction of relationships with teachers, self-efficacy and class attitude. However, satisfaction of relationship with teachers was not directly affected by students’ academic achievement but they influenced indirectly mediating self-efficacy and class attitude. In addition, self-efficacy was indirectly influenced by academic achievement mediating class attitude. Second, analysis of gender differences by social capital at home showed that there was no differences in academic achievement. But in a path from the satisfaction of relationships with teachers to self-efficacy and from self-efficacy to academic achievement, male students were more influenced than female students in terms of feelings of satisfaction of relationships with teachers that is going to self-efficacy and self-efficacy affected more than any others to academic achievement. This study suggested some ways to improve academic achievement based on these findings.
