We investigated the Reynolds number effects on the flow over a twisted structure in the range of 60 ≤ Re ≤ 150 . We mainly consider drag and lift coefficients to analyze characteristics of the twisted cylinder at Re=100. In particular, the r.m.s lift values of the twisted structures show substantial decrease of approximately 68% compared with the smooth cylinder. Several peaks appear on the drag coefficient of the twisted structure. The twisted structures generate three dimension flow behind the twisted cylinder at low Reynolds numbers because of sectional shape change along the spanwise direction. Consequently, the twisted structure effectively control the vortex induced vibration at low Reynolds numbers.
