Bordetella (B.) bronchiseptica is a causative agent of swine atrophic rhinitis that promotes colonization of the mucous membrane of the swine nasal cavity by Pasteurella (P.) multocida. Mixed infection with B. bronchiseptica and P. multocida leads to growth inhibition of pigs, resulting in significant economic loss. There are many commercial vaccines for atrophic rhinitis, including B. bronchiseptica as a killed vaccine antigen (Ag). However, the immunogenicity of killed B. bronchiseptica Ag has not yet been elucidated; therefore, this study was conducted to investigate the immunogenicity of killed B. bronchiseptica Ag and the type of immune response it induces. In vitro assays using mouse spleen cells and flow cytometry revealed that B. bronchiseptica Ag induced high proliferation capability of lymphocytes, especially B lymphocytes, and the proliferating cells showed a significant response to interleukin (IL)-2. B. bronchiseptica Ag also enhanced the production of IL-12, a representative cytokine for cell-mediated immunity. In vivo experiments using mice showed that the injection of B. bronchiseptica Ag markedly induced Ag-specific antibody. Taken together, these results indicate that B. bronchiseptica Ag has high immunogenicity by itself.

It is well recognized that the deposition of mucin occurs in areas of eruption in patients with lupus erythematosus. However, nodular cutaneous mucinosis is regarded as a rare distinctive cutaneous mucinosis in which the mucin deposition occurs in areas other than the sites of eruption in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus and manifests as a clinically specific lesion. Although several cases have been described in the literature, there have been only two reported cases in Korean literature. Thus, we report an interesting case of nodular cutaneous mucinosis that occurred in a young man. A 16-year-old man visited our clinic presenting with multiple soft subcutaneous nodules on his back for 6 months. He denied any other symptoms. Histological examination showed diffuse mucin deposition throughout the superficial and mid-reticular dermis. The abnormal laboratory values were as follows: a positive antinuclear antibody, increased anti-dsDNA, and reduced WBC count and C3 levels. He was diagnosed with nodular cutaneous mucinosis with systemic lupus erythematosus and treated with oral hydroxychloroquine and methylprednisolone. Our report is of interest owing to the rarity of developing nodular cutaneous mucinosis as an initial presentation of systemic lupus erythematosus. (Korean J Dermatol 2017;55(2):116∼119)

Angiomyxolipoma is a recently described and rare variant of lipoma that is characterized by the proliferation of adipose tissue with a myxoid stroma and multiple thick and thin-walled blood vessels. A 51-year-old man presented with a tender subcutaneous nodule on his right arm. The tumor was completely removed by excisional biopsy, and the histopathologic features revealed a thin fibrous capsule with incomplete fibrous septa extending into the lesion, dividing it into lobules of different sizes. The fat cells were mature, with a single vacuole and an eccentric nucleus. The vascular component consisted of groups of capillaries and occasional vessels of larger caliber. Erythrocytes were present within the lumen, and myxoid stroma was found. He was diagnosed as having angiomyxolipoma. Herein, we report a rare case of subcutaneous angiomyxolipoma of the arm. We also review and discuss such cases in the literature. (Korean J Dermatol 2017;55(10):680∼683)

Basal cell carcinoma, which characteristically develops on sun-exposed areas such as the head and neck, is the most common cutaneous malignancy. The most important risk factor associated with its development is chronic ultraviolet light exposure, and basal cell carcinomas in non-sun-exposed areas are, therefore, rare. In particular, the nipple-areola complex is an extremely rare site for basal cell carcinomas, and only three cases involving this area have been reported in Korea to date. Here, we report the case of a 66-year-old woman with pigmented superficial basal cell carcinoma in the nipple-areola complex. Typical dermoscopic findings were obtained in this case. Background: Dermoscopic features may be useful in verifying the clinical diagnosis and increasing the diagnostic accuracy of dermatofibroma. There have been no systematic analyses of the dermoscopic features of dermatofibroma in Koreans or studies regarding the correlation between dermoscopic features and histologic subtypes. Objective: To investigate the dermoscopic features of dermatofibroma in Koreans and to explore the relationship between the dermoscopic features and histologic subtypes of dermatofibroma. Methods: The study included 83 lesions from 61 patients with dermatofibroma. Dermoscopic examination was performed via hand-held polarized dermoscopy at 10× magnification. Images were documented using a digital camera with a 3-fold optical zoom. Results: The main dermoscopic structures were pigment network (63.9%), white scar-like patch (53.0%), and homogeneous area (50.6%). The frequency of homogeneous area (50.6%), scale (50.6%), ring-like structure (36.1%), exophytic papillary structure (7.2%), and telangiectasia (6.0%) was significantly higher, and globule-like structure (20.5%) and erythema (8.4%) was significantly lower in Koreans than in Caucasians (p<0.05). Eleven dermoscopic patterns including a peripheral delicate pigment network and central white scar-like patch (28.9%) and total delicate pigment network (15.7%) were observed and there was no significant difference compared to Caucasians. Seven histologic types were observed; however, the correlation between dermoscopic features and histologic subtypes was not significant. Conclusion: The most common pattern of dermatofibroma was pigment network and central white scar-like patch in both Koreans and Caucasians. A correlation between dermoscopic features and histologic subtypes in dermatofibroma was not found. These results may be helpful in clinically diagnosing dermatofibroma, especially in Koreans. Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans is a fibrohistiocytic tumor with intermediate malignancy that usually appears in adults. The congenital type is very rare, and only three cases have been reported so far in the Korean literature. A 2-month-old girl presented with a firm reddish-gray nodule on the middle of her back that had been present since birth. Histopathologically, the lesion was composed of fascicles of densely packed uniform spindle cells arranged in a storiform (mat-like) pattern. The cells had hyperchromatic nuclei and rare mitotic figures. On immunohistochemistry, the tumor cells were positive for CD34. Based on these findings, we made the diagnosis of congenital dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans. She underwent wide excision, and there was no evidence of recurrence during 24 months of follow-up. Our report is of interest because of the rarity of congenital dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans and its earliest detection reported in Korea. (Korean J Dermatol 2016;54(5):377∼380)

Malignant transformation of hidroacanthoma simplex into in situ porocarcinoma, also known as hidroacanthoma simplex with invasive growth, is very rare. Malignant hidroacanthoma simplex generally arises in the elderly and occurs most frequently on the lower extremities and trunk. The gross appearance of the tumor tends to vary, and there are nodular lesions or keratotic plaques with or without erosion and/or ulceration. In some cases, it clinically resembles Bowen`s disease or seborrheic keratosis. Histopathologically, the tumor appears similar to hidroacanthoma simplex, but the cells are atypical with hyperchromatic nuclei, and many are in mitosis. Here we report an extremely rare case of malignant hidroacanthoma simplex that occurred on the right knee of an 84-year-old Korean woman. (Korean J Dermatol 2015;53(3):226∼229)

해운기업의 선박투자 의사결정 방식에 관한 연구

해운산업은 변동성이 높은 특징을 가지고 있다. 운임시장과 선박시장의 주기성은 해운투자자들에게 성공의 기회를 주기도 하지만 실패의 이유가 되기도 한다. 본 연구에 의하면 한국해운기업의 선박투자 의사결정자들은 과학적 분석에 의한 의사결정 뿐만 아니라 휴리스틱 및 시장정서에 의한 의사결정에 상당한 중요성을 두고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 휴리스틱과 시장정서에 의한 의사결정은 빠르고 간편하여 경제적이고 때로는 과학적 의사결정보도 좋은 성과를 낼 수도 있지만, 단지 이러한 방법은 경험과 본능적 감에 의존하다 보니 오류가 발생할 가능성이 높으며, 집단의 심리로서 사람은 때때로 비합리적이기 때문에 집단 의견에 무비판적으로 동의하여 잘못된 선박투자 의사결정을 내릴 수도 있는 것이다. 또한 기업규모가 작은 중소기업 및 오너쉽 경영형태가 대기업 및 전문경영인 체제 보다 과학적 분석에 의한 의사결정방식에 중요도가 낮은 것으로 나타났다. The shipping industry is characterized by high volatility. The freight and ship market industry can provide its investors with a chance to succeed, but it can also become a reason for them to fail on their shipping investments. The present study has found that Korea’s shipping companies have been highly influenced by, and put emphasis on, heuristic market sentiments and the analysis of a ship’s investment-making potential. Moreover, because the shipping industry requires a decision-maker to make prompt decisions, errors can occur due to a speedy analysis. Making a decision under shipping circumstances has to equate for high volatility, and investment patterns are sometimes limited. Small-sized, tramper, and ownership-based shipping companies are less influenced by analytical shipping investment patterns. Korea’s shipping industry structure is primarily small, tramper and ownership-based, and a number of those companies have rapidly increased. They currently face bankruptcy or are suffering from a liquidity crunch. In light of this fact, it is important for Korean shipping companies to reduce heuristic market sentiments. These companies should consider pursuing analytical ship-investment patterns through accurate information gathering and the use of trained experts.

한국 물류산업의 공간적 집적과 클러스터 형성에 관한 연구

본 연구의 배경은 기존 물류업의 공간적 분포와 클러스터가 발생하고 있고, 국가적으로 물류 클러스터를 구축하고자 노력하고 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고 물류산업의 지역별 특화정도와 집적도 및 공간적 집적과 관련한 연구가 거의 없는 실정이다. 한국의 지역별 물류산업의 특화 분석을 LQ 지수를 통해 분석하며, 이를 활용하여 Getis-Ord 지수 도출과 Hotspot 분석을 통해 시군구별 물류업의 집적도를 직접 도출하여 시각화 할 수 있게 된다. 또한 선행연구의 클러스터 분석 기법을 활용하여 물류업의 유형화를 도출하고 집적현상을 도출 할 수 있게 된다. 본 연구의 결과로 물류업의 시도특별시의 시군구별 특화가 상이했으며, 특화와 공간적 집적의 형태를 실증적으로 파악할 수 있었다. 또한, 한국의 물류산업의 지역별 공간적 집적을 시각적으로 확인하고 공간적 집적을 통한 클러스터 형성의 원인과 향후 정부의 정책적 시사점을 제시하였다. 본 연구의 시사점은 국가 차원에서 진행하는 주요 물류거점과 물류 네트워크의 기초적인 연구가 될 수 있다. 또한 물류분야에서 많이 시도되지 않은 지리경제학적 측면에서 물류산업을 바라봄으로써 객 추가적인 학문적 접근을 제시할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다. As a result of this research, it was possible to grasp the specialization and spatial aggregation of the logistics industry by differentiating the differentiation of the city, And the causes of cluster formation through spatial integration and future policy suggestions of the government were presented. The implications of this research are that basic research on the main logistics bases and logistics networks that proceed at the national level is carried out and from the geographical and economic aspects that have not been widely used in the field of logistics, It may be possible to present additional academic accesses for the customers by looking at the results.
