Unstart is an unwanted flow phenomenon that is hard to prevent from occurring in practice as it can be induced due to various factors. Based on the previous study of scramjet unstart shockwave propagation speed and the flow characteristics of hypersonic inlet from start to unstart, the average shock train propagation speed that is calculated through the change of wall static pressure at several different positions inside the scramjet can be used for the detection of unstart shockwave. The algorithm of this detection method is first introduced, followed by the parameters’ influence and determination. The run time for this algorithm was first tested by the acquired data. Further experiments were done to verify the effectiveness of this detection algorithm. In this study, real-time unstart detection and feedback flow control had tested successfully, and the delay time of programming software and devices was measured.
