In this study, we carried out the experiment to identify the size and size distribution characteristics of dustp articles which are generated by the work process of coal preparation plant (hammer crusher, vibration screen, belt-conveyor and feeder). As a result, the dust, which has slow deposition velocity, is verified on average97.64% as the size less than 20㎛ of the particles from 0.5 to 100㎛ and the residence time in the air is long. In the dust collection design, the collection of dust less than 20㎛ is considered desirable and efficient in terms of the air environment or the human body`s damage, but whether the only respire able dust between the 0.5㎛~5㎛, which is the most harmful to the human body, will be collected, or the particles, the working environment in mind, will be collected, it gets up to each company`s choice to operate the coal preparation plant of the mine. These results are applicable to the facility`s design and construction as the basis documents.

Traditionally, the coefficients have been obtained using experimental measurements according to AHSRAE Standard 120, a process which is time consuming and expensive. An alternative is to use CFD, but this has uncertainty due to the approximations used in modeling turbulence. This study estimated that the pressure loss coefficients of duct fitting(elbow, tee) by turbulence model(Standard k-ε, Realizable k-ε, RSM, SST k-ω) using CFD techniques. The results show that Realizable k-ε model could accurately predict the pressure loss coefficients from all cases.

The mining operation by installing the cyclone collector to collect various types of suspension dust. Can improve the performance of the local exhaust system shall meet both of these economic and collection efficiency cyclone. Therefore, this study perform the collection efficiency and the conveyance power through a CFD analysis to the cyclone dust collector that is used in the industry in general. The results show that 100% collection efficiency for the generation of suspension dust in all except the V.I.(Φ 500). Pressure drops of standard, high efficiency, V.I.(Φ 300), V.I.(Φ 500) presented each 1,000, 600, 300, 150 Pa. Therefore V.I.(Φ 300) is the most efficient among the dust collectors.
