김종은의 소설집 『신선한 생선 사나이』는 수록된 9편의 소설들 전체가 서로가 서로를 빗대는 알레고리적인 관계를 맺고 있는 작품집이다. 그것은 정확히 도시로 추방된 동물-인간이 되어버린 이 시대 청춘들의 초상화이다. 본고에서는 이 작품집의 이 같은 구조적인 특성에 착안하여 현대미술 장르의 하나인 그래피티 아트(Graffiti arts)와 관련하여 작품의 의미를 천착해 보았다. 김종은의 9편의 소설들의 원형, 즉 첫 번째 그래피티라 할 수 있는 친구의 동명소설은 정확히 도시 안쪽으로 추방된 동물-인간으로 전락한 청춘의 모습을 그린 것인데, 이는 이후의 작풍들에서 9번 덧씌어지고 겹쳐쓰여진다. 이는 마치 화장실의 낙서, 거리의 그림인 그래피티와 같은 행위이다. 9편의 작품들을 통해 겹쳐 그려진 2000년대 청춘의 초상이란 인생의 상투성과 획일성을 ‘병’, ‘틈’, ‘구멍’ 등을 통해 저항하연서 제도와 시스템이 생선되기를 강요하기 이전의 존재의 모습, 즉 바다를 유영하는 물고기에 대한 기억을 간직하고 있는 자들의 형상이다. 이들은 헤겔식 인간되기가 어차피 불가능해진 현실에서 다르게 욕망하는 종으로의 진화를 보여주는 존재들이다. 따라서 궁극적으로 이 작품은 2000년대 청춘이란 어떤 존재일 수 있는가라는 존재론적인 물음으로 귀결되는 작품이라 할 수 있다. This paper studied a sort of method in which novel and short story in 2000’s represented the young men today. Focusing on A flesh fish man written by Kim Jong Eun, this paper studied that in relationship of the graffiti art. There are nine short stories in the text bock, A flesh fish man written by Kim Jong Eun. And these stories represented the closed youth images. These stories represened the youth as a fish. It is understood as an animal-human that forgot an human in meaning of Hegel’s concept of human. These animal-humen are showed in the graffiti art. Thus the animal-humen’s reading and writing is same as the acting of graffiti taggers. The nine short stories in the text book, A flesh fish man written by Kim Jong Eun, is related in structural relationship in the same graffiti art. This closed image of young men represented the pool sudject in the post capital society.

Background: OPS (Objective Prognostic Score) have been developed to predict the 3-week survival of terminally ill cancer patients from six training hospitals in Korea based on an integrated model using symptoms, performance status, and routine blood tests for inpatients in 2007. The purpose of this study is to validate OPS for terminally ill cancer patients in a tertiary hospital of Korea. Methods: 163 terminally ill cancer patients hospitalized at hospice palliative care unit of a university hospital in Korea from January 2012 to December 2013 were retrospectively analyzed. The OPS was calculated from the sum of partial scores obtained from following seven significant predictors: anorexia, dyspnea, the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) performance status scale, white blood cell (WBC) count, total bilirubin, creatinine and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH). The accuracy of the OPS was evaluated. Results: The median survival was 15 days (95% confidence interval 12∼18 days). The predictors that validated significant by the multivariate analysis were low performance status (HR=1.62; P=0.0295), leukocytosis (HR=1.46; P=0.0265), elevated serum bilirubin (HR=1.57; P=0.0164), elevated serum creatinine (HR=1.71; P=0.0258), and elevated serum LDH (HR=1.49; P=0.0320). The cutoff point for the prediction of survival time shorter than 3 weeks was set at 3.0 (sensitivity 82.1%, specificity 52.6%). Conclusion: OPS has been validated in this population and was useful to predict the 3-week survival of terminally ill cancer patients in a tertiary hospital of Korea. It may help in making decisions about hospice care for patients and their families.

Twelve Universal fungal PCR fingerprint (UFPF) primers that were modified from Universal rice primer (URP) were used to assess genetic diversity of 64 Agaricus strains including 45 A. bisporus strains and other 19 strains of other Agaricus spp. Eight primers, UFPF1, UFPF2, UFPF3, UFPF7, UFPF9, UFPF10, UFPF11, and UFPF12 produced PCR polymorphic bands within and between the Agaricus species. Primer UFPF7 produced specific PCR polymorphic bands that are distinct Korean strain from different strains. Ninety five PCR polymorphic bands were inputted for UPGMA cluster analysis. Forty five strains of A. bisporusare genetically clustered into 8 groups, showing coefficient similarity from 0.75 to 0.9 among them. The varieties, Saea, Saedo, Saejeong and Saeyeon that have recently been developed in Korea were involved in the same group with close genetic relationship of coefficient similarity over 0.96, whereas, other Korean strains were genetically related to A. bisporus strains that were introduced from USA, Eroupe and Chinese.

Reye syndrome is a disorder of unknown etiology in which a child recovering form a viral prodrome suddenly develops pernicious vomiting & eventually develops neurologic changes. The syndrome is defined to acute noninflammatory encephalopathy with fatty degeneration of liver and other organs. The coagulopathy or Reye syndrome is associated with proloned PT caused by the mitochondrial injury compromising synthesis of proteins and clotting factors in liver. In this case, we observed ICH on right parietal and occipital area in brain CT. Actually, bleeding in the major organ is extremely rare in Reye syndrome, this may be the first case report of CNS bleeding in Korea associated with Reye syndrome. In addition to case report, we present a brief review of the related literatures.
