For the purpose of reducing occupant injury during the vehicle impact, Integrated Restraint Seat (IRS) is developed. With the result of vehicle front-impact sled test, this seating system can do effect of reducing about 40 % less injury value than general seat in view of regulations in the Federal Motors Vehicle Safety Standards(FMVSS). Computational analysis results by FEM are comparatively well coincident with the result of experimental one. It is necessary for us to minimize occupant injury more in the development of IRS. In this paper, to design robust seat frame with optimaI thickness parameters of restraint belt system, the response surfuce method based on stochastic process is developed and applied to this system. Based on initial fitting space, a total of 25 simulations were carried out. During the optimization process, totally 59 simulations were executed for searching global minimum. The main characteristics of using response surface for global optimization is to exploit the approximating surface with the need to improve the approximation. Using this robust and cost effective optimization method, a sample seat frame structure was optimally designed, which has characteristics that HIC value is reduced about 63.4 % and chest injury value is lowered about 57.1 % of recommended value in regulation.<br/>
정렬 알고리즘과 격자형 셀을 이용한 분자동역학 해석방법의 근접원자 탐색방법 개발

Through molecular dynamic (MD) simulation, one could directly observe the microscopic mechanism at atomic-level details. But computationally intensive nature of this simulation restricts the size of simulation system to a few nanometer. The force calculation is the most time consuming part of almost MD simulations. To speed up the evaluation of force, Verlet neighbor method is generally used for short-range force. But when the number of atoms in the simulation is very large, it can require a significant computational effort. In this paper, sorted list of atom position in each grid-cell is applied to neighbor searching method of MD simulations. Using quick sort algorithm, atoms in the grid-cell are sorted sequentially in each x, y, and z direction. Compared with the conventional method, whose neighbor searching time is O(N²), computing time of present study increases in the scale of n. Also optimal grid-size of system are investigated for various models.
레이저 용접 판재가 적용된 자동차 측변 차체 부품의 성형성 연구

Considering the automotive side-frame as an application of tailor welded blanks, the joining part of B-pillar (or center pillar) and roof-rail, or the joining part of B-pillar and side-sill are the issues of its stretch flanging mode. This joining part was simplified to T-shaped section and the forming behavior was discussed. Employing tailored blanks to the T-section, three of the die step locations and two of the blank types were considered, and the results were discussed. Experimental results were compared with the results of the forming simulations using finite element method. Finite element modeling techniques were discussed, and appropriate method for the weld bead modeling was recommended.
