CV joints are used for transmitting torque to wheel and Ball type CV joint is used to outboard type. The objectives of this study is to determine the optimal friction welding process parameters using finite element simulations. Modeling is a generally accepted method to significantly reduce the number of experimental trials needed when determining the optimal parameters. Therefore, because friction welding depends on many process parameters such as spindle rotational speed, friction pressure and velocity, amount of upset finite element simulations were performed. Then, friction welding experiments were carried out with the optimal process parameter conditions resulting from the simulations. In this study, various investigation methods, including microstructure characterization, hardness measurements and tensile were conducted in order to evaluate the mechanical properties of the friction welded zone.

This paper deals with an experimental study on the reaction of muscles by functional electrical stimulation(FES) with the design and fabrication of an ankle reaction apparatus. The ankle reaction apparatus consists of a circuit part and a kinematic part, and it monitors reaction time for a particular angle of joint rotation according to FES. The experimental results showed that the change of the ankle rotation angle was linearly proportional to the change of the magnitude of FES. It also showed that the muscle's reaction time was constant no matter how large the magnitude of the stimulus. The results of this paper can be applied to develop an active-type walking-assistance robot.
