목회간호 사업의 필요성에 대한 연구 : 목회간호사를 대상으로

Faith is one of the key factors that determine quality of life and health of a person. Parish Nursing provides community health care, by integrating faith and health, in churches serving the congregations. This study investigated perceived necessity of parish nursing activities. The convenience sample was selected from nurses who completed the parish nursing program at Ewha Wornans University College of Nursing Sciences in Seoul, Korea. The twenty nine respondents completed 32 questions about parish nursing activities, expected roles of parish nurses, and volunteer participation Once the questionnaires were completed, collected data were coded, computerized, and frequency distributions were calculated. The results of the study are as follows: 1) Expected roles of parish nurses: home visitation(94.5%), spiritual nursing care and spiritual support(91.0%), and counseling program(94.5%). 2) Expected health education and initial health screening activities: a)for individuals, health education in stress management(96.5%) and exercise(80.5%); b) for groups, health education in hypertension(91.0%), heart disease(91.0%), and stress management(91.0%); and c) initial health screening programs: blood pressure check(94.5%), blood sugar check(87.5%), and general physical examination(67.0%). 3) Expected activities during home visitation: care for the bed sore(94.5%), spiritual care during dying stage(100%), prayer(94.5%), and provide a list of the hospitals and herbal centers in the community(96.5%). All of the respondents reported that they see the need for parish nursing activities, and they would like to start parish nursing programs in their churches. Thus, this study showed the necessity of parish nursing activities.
