        Multiple roles of Korean Immigrant wives Depression

        결혼한 여성의 우울과 관련된 주 요인의 하나는 그들의 다양한 역할이 정신적인 건강에 부정적인 영향을 심리적으로 미친다고 발표되어 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고 한국 이민 주부에 대한 이러한 영역에서의 연구가 매우 부족한 실정이다. 중서부의 주요 도시인 시키고의 도심지에 위치한 11곳의 한국인 교회에서 편의 표출 방법으로 다음과 같은 기준에 맞는 대상자를 선택하였다. 나이는 25-55세 사이, 결혼하여 남편과 함께 살고 있으며, 매주 20시간 이상씩 일하고 있는 여성 등의 기준을 충족시키는 응답자의 수는 282명이었다 대상자들에게는 5가지의 설문 즉 인구통계학적, 우울에 대한 역학 연구, 성 역할 지향성의 지수, 역할 분담 및 대처 전략 등에 관한 질문이었다. 중다회귀분석 (Multiple Regression Analysis)에서 통계학적으로 유의한 관계를 보인 것은 다음과 같았다. 주부의 자녀가 적을수록 우울의 수준은 높았고, 가족의 수입이 많을수록 우울의 수준은 낮았으며, 주부가 일하는 것이 경제적 필요를 충족시키기 위함이라고 스스로 지각(주부들은 일하는 역할이 합법적으로 판단되어지기를 원했고 또 지각했는데 이와 대조하여 일의 역할을 비합법적으로 지각하는 것)할수록 우울의 수준은 더 높았다. 비록 일하는 것이 저녁 늦게 자고 아침 일찍 일어남을 의미할지라도 모든 가사를 완수하기 위하여 열심히 일한다고 하면 할수록 우울의 수준은 더 높았다. 주부가 일의 역할을 합법적으로 지각하면 할수록 남편과 다른 가족의 구성원들에게 도움을 요청하거나 도움을 받는 것을 원하지 않았으며, 일을 더 열심히 하기 위해 대처전략과 우선순위(주부가 일을 전혀 완수 할 수 없을지라도 가정의 어떤 일이 중요하고 어느 것이 두 번째로 중요한지를 결정하는)를 더 잘 설정하고 더 잘 수용하는 것 같았다. 식품 등을 쇼핑하는데에 많은 시간을 소모할수록 우울의 수준은 더 높았다. 이 자료는 스트레스와 대처이론을 지지하고 있다.

        간호과학 : 태국 취업 주부의 이중역할 경험

        Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe Thailand working wives` experience from the double role. Method: Focus group discussion was utilized to conduct a grounded theory to discover if there was stress, coping and perception associated with Thailand working wives. Researchers led one focus group discussion (six subjects). Age of the Wives were between 25-55 years old. Wives worked outside for at least twenty hours per week or more and wives resided with their husbands. Results: The results of this study were as follows; a) Maintaining traditional gender role concept in their relationships, b) Receiving extra stress from husband`s fidelity problem, c) Lack of family support for household tasks and child care, d) Facing communication difficulty in their family relationship, e) Doing alone even in unfair condition, f) Asking for and receiving help from the family member`s with household tasks and child care, and g) Feeling stress due to double role and satisfaction from their employment. The outcome of this study can be applied as grounded work for nursing intervention, it can help understand a married working women`s stress, coping and perception of the multiple roles which improve women`s quality of life.

        일본 취업주부의 이중역할 경험

Method: Focus group discussion were utilized to conduct a grounded theory to discover if there was stress, coping and perception associated with Japanese working wives. Researchers led one focus group discussion (five subjects). Ages of the subjects were between 25-55 years old, wives worked outside for at least twenty hours a week or more and wives reside with their husbands. Results: The results of this study are as follows: a) Wives believe that their employment is legitimate, b) Japanese wives perceived that employment and household-task is not compatible, c) No or less help from family members, d) Japanese wives did household-task by herself (hard work) e) No request or less request from wives about houshold-tasks, f) Japanese wives believed that household-task and child care are the responsibility of the wives and outside work was considered a husbands`responsibility. Conclusion: The outcome of this study can be applied as grounded work. In nursing intervention it can help understand a married working wives` stress, coping and perception of the double roles which improve women`s quality of life.

        이중역할에 대한 취업주부의 경험

        The purpose of this study was to describe Korean working wives`experiences. Focus group interviews were utilized to conduct a grounded theory to discover if there was stress, coping, and perception associated with Korean working women. Researchers led three focus group discussions (twenty two subjects). Ages of the subjects were between 25 and 55 years old, wives worked outside for at least twenty hours a week and wives reside with their husbands. The results of this study are as follows: Wives believe that their employment is legitimate. Their employment increased family income and they gained satisfaction in performing multiple roles, but they complained of fatigue and pain in their joints. Subjects have less time for their own. They cannot negotiate with their husbands about house work. Family members give lack of support. Korean family believed that house work and child care are the responsibility of the wife. On the other hand, outside work was considered a husband`s responsibilities. Korean women are more comfortable with their daughter`s help than their sons. The outcome of this study can be applied as grounded work. In nursing intervention it can help understand a married working women`s stress, coping and perception of the multiple roles which improve her quality of life.

        아시아의 일본, 태국 및 한국 취업주부의 이중역할 경험

        The purpose of the study was to examine the subjective health status and death anxiety of the elderly participating in senior job placement business. Methods: The subjects were 176 elderly aged 65 and over participating in senior job placement business in G city. Data were collected from November 4 to 13, 2013. PASW (Predictive Analytics SoftWare) statistics 18.0 version was used for descriptive analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson correlation. Results: The mean scores of the subjective health status and death anxiety were 67.00 and 43.88, respectively. According to age, the number of disease and days of participation of job placement business, there were significant differences in the subjective health status. The subjective health status were not significantly correlated with death anxiety. Conclusion: These results show that senior job placement business gives positive effects in the health status of the elderly.

        남성의 가정폭력 행위 경험

        Purpose: This study was to describe how the domestic violence perpetrators experience domestic violence. Method: Focus group discussion were used to collect data and a grounded theory approach was used for the analysis. Study participants were seven Korean men. Results: This study revealed seven themes and central phenomena describing and checking the association of themes. The seven themes were a) communication problems due to mistrust of husbands` behavior. b) husbands want to be respected from wives. c) mistrust of wives d) limitation of patience. e) husbands stated that they are victims of domestic violence. f) husbands try to control their anger during argue. g) Husbands try to keep their family. Central phenomena: Men try to do their best to keep their family. Conclusion: Domestic violence has significant influence on family life. Effective nonviolent communicational programs should be provided for couple. Effective anger control program should be provided for men. Domestic violence preventional programs should be provided for family members. Nurses should access the needs of members of the families and then plan program based on needs, which are related to individual domestic violence issues. The outcome of this study can be applied as grounded work. In nursing intervention it can help understand domestic violence perpetrators which improve family quality of life.

        목회간호 사업의 필요성에 대한 연구 : 목회간호사를 대상으로

        Faith is one of the key factors that determine quality of life and health of a person. Parish Nursing provides community health care, by integrating faith and health, in churches serving the congregations. This study investigated perceived necessity of parish nursing activities. The convenience sample was selected from nurses who completed the parish nursing program at Ewha Wornans University College of Nursing Sciences in Seoul, Korea. The twenty nine respondents completed 32 questions about parish nursing activities, expected roles of parish nurses, and volunteer participation Once the questionnaires were completed, collected data were coded, computerized, and frequency distributions were calculated. The results of the study are as follows: 1) Expected roles of parish nurses: home visitation(94.5%), spiritual nursing care and spiritual support(91.0%), and counseling program(94.5%). 2) Expected health education and initial health screening activities: a)for individuals, health education in stress management(96.5%) and exercise(80.5%); b) for groups, health education in hypertension(91.0%), heart disease(91.0%), and stress management(91.0%); and c) initial health screening programs: blood pressure check(94.5%), blood sugar check(87.5%), and general physical examination(67.0%). 3) Expected activities during home visitation: care for the bed sore(94.5%), spiritual care during dying stage(100%), prayer(94.5%), and provide a list of the hospitals and herbal centers in the community(96.5%). All of the respondents reported that they see the need for parish nursing activities, and they would like to start parish nursing programs in their churches. Thus, this study showed the necessity of parish nursing activities.
