Recently, the cooperation between railway operators has been increased to maximize the efficiency of Asian railway network and international tourists, especially tourists to Asian region grow rapidly. But the cooperation in the rail tourism and leisure field has not yet been promoted. Therefore, this study suggests the development strategy of Asian Rail Pass like Eurail and InetRail Pass. It discusses mainly three Northeast Asian countries, Korea, China and Japan, which are very important area as the third world trade market and high rate of personal exchange. A joint research has to be conducted to feel out the practicability and profitability for the development of Asian Rail Pass. This study will publicize the necessity of Rail Pass in Asia.

Recently, there has been growing interest in global warming problem and greenhouse gas emissions reduction. Railways are extremely energy efficient in comparison to other means of transportation with minimal adverse impact on the climate change, but there is no officially-adopted source of measured data. This study was designed to estimate energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions per person kms(freight traffic : per tonne kms) by analyzing transport performance, energy use and greenhouse gas emissions of each transport mode, also present greenhouse gas reduction effects in the case of passenger and freight shift from road to rail. In this paper we give preliminary data for the policy to promote a modal shift from road to rail and publicity activity to spread the value of rail transport among the public.
도시철도 7호선 연장 개통에 따른 경인선 수요변화 연구

Recently, there has been growing interest in Gyongin Line demand estimation, because SMRT(Seoul Metropolitan Rapid Transit Corporation) Line 7 will be extended west by 9.8km from Onsu to meet the Gyongin Line at Bupyeong-gu Office. This study was designed to estimate the change of traffic demand in Gyongin Line before and after the completion year 2011, also provide against the economic loss caused by the derived demand from Gyongin Line to SMRT Line 7. In this paper we give preliminary results for the strategic plans for traffic demand estimation and train operating plan in Gyongin Line by analyzing transport performance of Seoul metropolitan subway, and an additional study on the transportation market and the urban development plan is needed for more accurate results.

Recently, there has been growing necessity to estimate the future travel demand of high speed train because the circumstance of high speed train service is rapidly changing with the launching of 2011 second stage of Gyeongbu high speed railway(Dongdaegu-Busan) and the completion of 2014 first stage of Honam high speed railway(Yongsan-Gwangju), etc. This study was designed to estimate future travel demand by analyzing the transport performance and train service characteristics of Gyeongbu and Honam line. This study presents the maximum load section and the changed future travel demand, which wil be applied to establish a train operation plan.
