논문 : 전통 조형원리 방위개념 요소의 디자인자원화 연구 -전통 오방색채 방위개념 활용을 중점으로-

역사보존고도, 역사유적지, 민속촌, 한옥마을, 전통조경, 전통구현 조경 등 역사전통과 연계되는 연장선상에 역사전통 원리와 요소 적용이 필요한 디자인 공간으로 역사전통원리 정체성이 왜곡되어서는 안 되는 부분이다. 문화적 충돌에는 전통원리를 원칙으로 하는 방법이 모색 되어야 한다. 전통과 연계되는 곳에는 우리의 전통원리와 요소가 기본이 된 융ㆍ복합의 디자인이 필요 한 것이다. 우리 전통 조형 환경을 보면, 유교, 성리학, 도교, 불교, 배산임수, 전저후고, 전착후관, 풍수지리, 식재의 방위 의기, 촉각, 맛, 오행,오상, 오음, 오방색등이 방위개념을 내포하고 있는 전통원리의 조형요소들로서 자연친화적이고 과학적인 차별화된 디자인자원이다. 세계화를 위해 역사적 문화유산에 대하여 종합적으로 파악하고 역사, 문화, 환경에 대한 기본적인 구상을 모색해야하고 전통정서의 특수성을 표현해내는 미래지향적 융ㆍ복합의 소중한 자원인 것이다. 왜곡되고 기형적 현상을 바로잡는 역사보전과 발전의 방법은 전통원리의 요소자원을 발굴하여 활용해야 하는 것이다. 오천년 역사 바탕의 차별화된 전통문화요소를 융ㆍ복합의 디자인요소로 재창조 하는 것이며, 세계적인 문화요소가 될 수 있도록 확대시켜 나가야 한다. 논문 : 역사보존 고도(古都) 도심활성화를 위한 공공디자인 방향성 연구

우리나라는 과거 고대국가 도읍지로 오래 지속되었던 천년역사 고도(古都)들이 있다. 역사의 문화유적이 복합적으로 산재해 있어 문화적 보고(寶庫)로 인정받고 보호 되지만 개발이 규제되면서 도시의 기능은 다른 도시에 비해 상대적으로 쇠락하고 있다. 도시 환경은 문화적 충돌과 명확한 디자인 방향성과 가이드의 부재로 제대로 계획되지 못하여 정체성이 흐려지고 기형적인 도시화 현상으로 점점 왜곡 되어가고 있다. 이러한 기형적 현상을 바로잡고 역사보전과 발전의 방법을 모색해야 되겠다. 이에 전통원리에 충실한 공공환경 원리를 연구하여 역사고도가 문화적으로 세계적 보전가치가 높은 환경적으로 우수한 디자인 요소와 자원임을 인지하고, 특수성 확립과 미래지향적 융복합 디자인 방향성을 제시 하였다. 그리고 글로벌 시대 역사 고도(古都)는 보전을 위한 규제대상이 아니라 천년 역사문화를 바탕으로 차별화된 디자인 요소를 가진 도시로 재창조 되어야 하는 것이다. 뿐만 아니라 문화, 관광, 경제활동의 세계적인 도시가 될 수 있도록 역사전통과 현대문화의 융복합 디자인이 필요한 것이다. Korea has a long history as an ancient country historic old city that has lasted one thousand years. 우리의 한국적 환경·조형디자인표현을 위해 디자인요소가 가져야 할 개념 및 디자인 전개원리를 도출 정립하여 한국적 전통 디자인표현이 현대 디자인의 차별화된 융·복합 요소임을 나타내고 세계적 문화자산임을 보이기 위함에 목적을 둔다. 이를 위해 전통조경요소의 가려진 개념을 찾아내어 현대의 과학, 기술, 디지털, 문화, 예술과 융·복합하여 디자인을 전개시키는 방법으로 현시대 흐름에 맞는 한국적표현 디자인의 특성을 추출하고 전통 조경요소가 환경에서 가지는 디자인의미와 함께 한국적 디자인표현의 특성과 전통문화 본질을 살핀다. 전통요소와 현대적 기술이 융·복합된 한국적 표현의 디자인 전개원리는 자연적 요소가 인공적으로 제시하는 여러 형태와 가치 및 우수한 특징들을 인지 포용하고 왜곡되지 않게 보전하는 전통요소로서 미적, 종교적, 철학적, 사상적인 배경과 문화적 독특한 특색을 갖고 있으며 관조미, 소박미, 질박미, 포용미, 탈기교미의 디자인개념과 자연주의, 사상의 상징예술, 위계적 구성, 경계영역 설정, 이원적 구성, 연속성, 대칭적 비대칭, 대비 및 변화, 전이공간, 시선의 변화, 수평과 수직적 조화, 축소도입의 전통본질로서 비정제성이며 자연친화형 한국적 디자인 전개원리이다.
