Is has been rather well known that the duration of the relative half-life of tissue protein in the protein depleted animals or animals treated with low protein diets are longer. Ju has reported that the turnover rate of lysine-6-C^(14) in rats is dependent upon the level of dietary lysine and the relative biological half-life of the lysine-6-C^(14) in the tissue protein is about 4 days or more in the rice diet fed rats(low lysine diet), whereas the biologically half-life of the lysine-6-C^(14) in the fish flour supplemented rice diet lasts less than 3 days. In regard to these problems, it seems desirable to know whether any different responses might exist on the nutritional effects between the only rice diet fed rats the fish flour supplemented rice diet ones. In this paper, the author observed on growth rates, intakes and efficiencies of food and protein during several diets feeding on rats. Weanling albino rats of a pure strain wee used as the experimental animals, which by the sexual separation, were divided into six groups; standard diet(S), rice diet(A), rice and fish flour mixed diet(B), fish flour supplemented rice diet by once a three-day (C), fish flour supplemented rice diet by once a four-day(D) and fish flour supplemented rice diet by once a five-day(E). The results obtained are as follows; 1. Body weight of each diet group(except E group) was more increased in the first half stage than in the last one. 2. Total body weight of each diet group was more increased in male than in female during 54 days, and the most increased group in each sex was W group, the next ones B and C and the least one A respectively. 3. The intakes of food and protein were in the last half stage than in the first half one in each group, but those intakes calculated by per body weight unit were more in the first half stage than in the last one. 4. In the food efficiency of th male, the value of S group was higher than those of the other groups and those of B and C groups were similar to each other though they couldn't reach S group value. But A group was the lowest. 5. In the protein efficiency of male, the values of S, B and C groups were similar to one another but A group was lower than those of the others. 6. As the result the rice diet fed rats, periodically supplemented with the adequate amount of the fish flour, seem likely to increase the nutritional effects.
