Numerical algorithm to determine the free-surface profile, which is expressed as a function of the distance measured from the exit plane, has been developed. Perturbation of stream function, which makes the solution satisfy both the kinematic and dynamic boundary conditions, is obtained for an assumed free-surface profile. The stream function is then modified iteratively by the successive solutions of perturbation function. For the two-dimensional jet flow, the present results are seen to compare excellently with those by other methods.
