The main objectives of this study were to investigate flower bud differentiation and carbohydrate status in tuber during early growth stage in Zantedeschia albomaculata ‘Black Magic’ by soaking tubers into 500 ㎎ㆍL?¹ GA₃ solution before planting. As the early growth were promoted by GA₃ treatment so shoot length had a difference from 10 days after planting, therefore, were higher as 11.6㎝ in GA₃ treatment than as 7.4㎝ in control. At 30 days after planting, carbohydrate in tuber existed as 359~464㎎ㆍg?¹ DW starch, 49.2~76.8㎎ㆍg?¹ DW sucrose, 8.0~10.0㎎ㆍg?¹ DW glucose and 9.5~13.9㎎ㆍg?¹ DW fructose. Starch content at 30 days after planting in GA₃ treatment and control than at planting were lower 34.8% and 16.7%, respectively. As shoot developed, soluble sugar Content were increased and high in GA₃ treatment, especially. At planting, cell division for vegetative growth in apical bud On tuber were observed actively. Also flower bud differentiation in GA₃ treatment made rapid progress and the percentage of female and male organ at 20 days and 30 days after planting reached 60% and 80%, respectively.
