This study aimed to examine the dual-factor model of mental health (Keyes, 2002, 2005) using latent profile analysis (LPA) and to investigate the differences in suicidal ideation and emotional well-being among the latent classes. LPA was conducted on 290 adults based on the Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale (DASS-21) and the Mental Health Continuum–Short Form (MHC–SF). The results of LPA indicated that the model fit indicators for the 5-class model were at an acceptable level: good (35.9%), languishing (22.8%), flourishing (20.7%), languishing& pathology (15.2%), and pure pathology (5.5%). Individuals with a spouse, high income level, and in the high age group were more likely to belong to the flourishing group than the languishing & pathology group. The flourishing and good mental health groups showed lower levels of suicidal ideation compared to the other groups. Additionally, the flourishing group had the highest levels of positive emotion and happiness, while the languishing and languishing & pathology groups experienced high levels of negative emotions. The findings of this study support the dual-factor model of mental health, highlighting the importance of prevention and intervention strategies focused on mental well-being, particularly flourishing. The limitations of this study were discussed, and suggestions for future research were provided.
