The purpose of this study is to propose an enhanced variable-speed control method of ground-water circulation pumps using inlet and outlet ground-water temperature difference and analyze its effect for the ground-source multi-heat pump system installed in a single-family house. As a result, it has shown to reduce about 94.5% of pump electricity use for a day because of the proposed variable-speed control under partial load conditions as well as pump capacity reduction and efficiency increase after oversized and inefficient single-speed pump retrofit.

This study analyzed the concentration reduction effects of particulate matters (e.g., PM10 and PM2.5) and indoor air pollutants (e.g., CO2, TVOC, Radon) according to the operation conditions of an air-cleaner and natural ventilation through windows in a small office. As results, the daily average concentrations of PM10 and PM2.5 decreased into 0.2 μg/m3 from 1.6 μg/㎥ when the air-cleaner was in operation along with all windows closed during holidays. Under the conditions of natural ventilation with the windows opened during weekdays, the concentrations of Radon significantly decreased up to 0.2 pCi/ℓfrom 3.7 pCi/ℓ. However, the daily average concentrations of PM10 increased almost double up to 74.7 μg/㎥ from 30.5 μg/㎥ and PM2.5 increased up to 40.9 μg/㎥ from 21.5 μg/㎥ as well even though the air-cleaner was in operation. Consequently, when it comes to improving indoor air quality, it is important to timely operate ventilation (natural or mechanical) systems as well as air-cleaner(s) depending on the concentrations of measured indoor and outdoor air pollutants.
어린이집 및 노인요양시설 환기시스템 가동에 따른 실내공기질 분석

본 연구에서는 다중이용시설인 어린이집 및 노인요양시설을 대상으로 환기시스템 가동에 따른 실시간 실내공기질 모니터링데이터 (CO₂, TVOC, Radon)를 분석하였다. 결과적으로 분석 대상 어린이집의 경우 재실밀도가 높아 주간에 이산화탄소(CO2)농도가 대부분 유지기준(1000 ppm)을 초과하였으며 야간에는 라돈(Radon)의 농도가 최대 100 Bq/㎥ 까지 상승하였다. 또한, 전열교환기를 24 시간 가동한 경우에 라돈의 농도는 40% 감소하였으나, 재실인원에 비하여 환기 풍량이 부족하여 CO₂ 농도 감소효과는 크게 나타나지 않았다. 노인요양시설의 경우 주로 야간에 CO₂와 TVOC 농도가 실내공기질 유지기준 (CO₂ 1000 ppm) 및 권고기준 (TVOC 400 ㎍/㎥)을 초과하였으며, 실제 배기 덕트의 풍량이 부족하여 배기팬의 가동으로 인한 CO₂와 TVOC 농도의 감소 효과는 크게 나타나지 않았다. 따라서 어린이집 및 노인요양시설의 실내공기질을 개선하기 위해서는 먼저, 인당 필요 환기량을 바탕으로 적정한 용량의 환기시스템이 설치되고 유지관리 되어야 하며, 지속적으로 실내오염물질의 유형 및 농도를 모니터링 하여 자연환기 및 기계환기를 적절히 혼합하여 가동할 필요가 있다.
건물에너지 모니터링 및 시뮬레이션을 활용한 신축건물의 에너지성능평가

The performance evaluation of a new building is becoming more important because efficient design alone is often not sufficient to deliver an efficient building. However, there is a lack of standard evaluation methods to measure the energy performance of a new construction that has Energy Conservation Design Measures (ECDMs). This study presents an enhanced method based on calibrated whole-building simulation for evaluating the energy performance of new commercial buildings and demonstrates its use using a case-study building, including: an Energy Use Index (EUI) comparison with sub-metered data and an evaluation of the performance of specific ECDMs. The use of this method has determined that the case-study building was shown to use approximately 47% less energy than the base-case building that has the same shape and function as the case-study building (i.e., calibrated as-built simulation model), but doesn't include the simulated ECDMs.

It has recently been concerned about cooling loads due to solar radiation through windows for commercial buildings. External shadings can be used to effectively reduce the direct and global solar radiation on windows. This paper analyzed the direct and global solar radiation facing on a vertical window according to the projection factors(PF) of external horizontal and vertical shadings in its orientation for a clear day in Summer and then proposed Solar Heat Gain Coefficient(SHGC) multipliers for such external horizontal and vertical shadings.

The role of BAS (building automation system) or BEMS (building energy management system) is important to effectively manage systems operation and save energy use without sacrificing thermal comforts in buildings. Recently, it is becoming an issue to implement the Measurement & Verification (M&V) of energy savings from building energy retrofit or on-going commissioning. However, the BAS of an existing building has been focused on simple operation and surveillance, and the functions of BEMS are also insufficient for the M&V of energy savings through energy efficient management. Therefore, this study introduce a smart energy monitoring system coupled with the BAS of a existing building, along with a smart M&V function capable of determining energy savings based on outdoor temperature dependent change-point regression baseline energy models.

The purpose of this study is to propose an M&V(measurement and verification) model for a multi-family zero-energy building and identify energy saving opportunities using whole-building energy simulation as a preliminary study on optimizing the energy performance of the case-study building. As a result, it has shown to significantly reduce the electricity use of heating water-circulation pump by using variable-speed control, and it is expected to further save energy and operational costs through appropriate M&V and continuous commissioning.
