Vol.2017 No.11

Tire design elements such as tread pattern design, mold cavities, compound materials, constructions, etc., affect vehicle handling performance. The study of these design elements has been a field of constant interest in the automotive industry. However it not only takes a lot of time and cost but also has difficulties that requires a lot of experience to ensure the reliability of the results. In this paper, the handling performance variation according to the tire design factors was experimentally investigated. First, the force and moment characteristics of the tire according to tire design element were analyzed. For this work, the test conducted with 4 different structural stiffness types of tires and measured the characteristics of force and moment using the tire test machine(Flat Trac CT Plus). Next, the characteristics of the vehicle behavior were analyzed depending on the characteristics of the force and moment. For th is wo rk, vehic le te sts su ch as On-Cen ter Handlin g, Slow ly Ram p Ste er, et c., we re perform ed usi ng t he steering robot(SR -30). Fin ally, from the test re sul ts of this pa per , the correla tion was confir med betw een the tire design elements, the characteristics of tire force and moment and characteristics of vehicle behavior.

Tire design variables, such as tread patterns, mold cavities, compounds, and structures, affect the response performance of the vehicle. In this study, the following experimental methods are used to find tire characteristics that affect the response performance of a vehicle. First, the structural variables were adjusted to make samples of different response levels, and then various indoor tests were performed using FLAT-TRAC to derive the tire characteristics associated with the vehicle’s response from the prepared samples. In order to evaluate the response performance of the vehicle for each tire samples, a objective outdoor test was then performed on the proving ground using various measurement equipments as like RT-3000, steering robot, etc. Finally, the relationship between the response performance of the vehicle and the characteristics of the tire was compared from these results.

The ability of pilots is important for being a high-performance fighter aircraft. In particular, the ability to cope with the acceleration that occurs during a sharp turn in close combat is needed. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between body composition and G-tolerance in 312 preliminary pilots. Body composition measurement and acceleration experiments were administered on the participants and then they were grouped according to their consciousness. Independent t-test and multivariate logistic regression analysis were used for data analysis. The results showed that weight(p<.05), fat mass, percentage body fat, and percentage muscle mass were significantly different between LOC group and non-LOC group. The rate of loss of consciousness was low in the group with low fat mass(OR = .175 ~ .381) and percentage body fat(OR = .151 ~ .412), and high percentage muscle mass(OR = .086 ~ .306). G-tolerance was related to fat mass, percentage body fat and percentage muscle mass. In addition, the loss of consciousness was significantly decreased both the body composition was 16.6% or less and the percentage muscle mass was 48.6% or more.
