Numerical simulation has been performed for a cooling process of hot plate in steel-making industries, which involves jet impingement and boiling heat transfer. The boiling bubbles as well as jet interfaces are computed by an improved level-set method incorporating a sharp-interface technique. The flow and cooling characteristics of jet impingements are investigated by solving the conservation equations of mass, momentum and energy in the liquid and gas phase. Both water pool height and boiling phenomena are observed to have significant effects on flow and cooling characteristics of impinging jet.
