As Hobbes said, early modern English society could be imagined with the picture of "homo homini lupus." Confrontation of extreme desires of the society broke out and up medieval thoughts and systems which had ruled out for almost millennium. Tension and conflict produced from the confrontation might sneak into the contemporaries and might appear on the stage of Shakespeare while they were communicating with other desires in order to relieve their repression and innovate old systems in society. Using Habermas's theory of communicative action, Freudian concept of culture and Ricoeur's hermeneutics, this paper will reflect their perspectives and see how tragic communication, mainly concerning rationality and madness of Shakespearean tragic characters, can be interpreted.
