초등학생의 손가락 길이 비율(2D:4D)과 공격성의 관계 연구

본 연구는 태아기 성호르몬의 노출의 정도에 따라 영향을 받는 두 번째 손가락과 네 번째 손가락 길이의 비율(2D:4D)이 초등학교 남녀학생에 따라 어떠한 차이가 있는지, 그리고 남녀학생들의 공격성과 어떠한 관계가 있는지 탐색하였다. 이를 위해 경기도 내에 소재한 초등학교 6학년 188명을 대상으로 두 번째 손가락과 네 번째 손가락 길이를 측정하고, 공격성을 조사하였다. 분석결과, 초등학교 남학생의 손가락 길이 비율이 여학생의 손가락 길이보다 낮았고, 남학생의 손가락 길이 비율이 낮은 경우 신체적 공격성, 우회적 공격성, 부정성이 높게 나타났다. 여학생의 오른손 손가락 길이 비율이 낮은 경우 언어적 공격성, 우회적 공격성이 높게 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과는 예민한 발달과정 중에 있는 초등학생들의 선천적인 기질을 이해함으로써 학생들의 긍정적인 정서, 행동발달에 도움이 되는 교육적 단서를 제공해 줄 수 있을 것이다. The purpose of this study was to find out the traits of elementary school students’ 2nd to 4th digit length ratio (2D:4D), which reflects the amount of exposure to the prenatal sex hormone, and the relationship between 2D:4D and aggression. The subjects were 188 sixth-grade children in Kyounggi-do province. The results showed the typical sex difference in 2D:4D ratio that girls had significantly higher 2D:4D ratio than boys. If boys had significantly lower 2D:4D ratio among them, they had higher tendency of ‘physical aggression’, ‘roundabout aggression’, and ‘negativism’. If girls had significantly lower 2D:4D ratio of right hand among them, they had higher tendency of ‘roundabout aggression’ and ‘verbal aggression’. The results suggest that the amount of exposure to sex hormone in the prenatal period seems to have an impact on the determination of children’s aggression. It is considered to be the useful way to understand the temperament of children and the cues of educational guidance.
