Owing to a real-time innovative infrastructure driven by destructive technology revolution, the business environment has been changed dramatically. In order to respond fast to a continuously and unpredictably changing business environment, the business entities, such as business process participants, customers, distributers, and partners, should have an agile paradigm which is able to acquire and share the real time information adaptively. As a 21st century business paradigm having such adaptability and responsiveness has been introduced and called the "Real-Time Enterprise (RTE)" strategy. In this paper, we investigate the various innovation cases adopting the RTE strategy. After briefly addressing the concept and the value of RTE strategy, we discuss the models and the frameworks used in outstanding international and domestic enterprises. We believe that this case study can provide a good guide to many enterprises planning to adopt a RTE strategy for building competitive advantage in today’s world of global competition.

Customer centered supply chain Management is becoming a very important issue for manufacturing and distribution company. Increasingly, leading companies improve their competitiveness by shorting the time to delivery from warehousing to delivering, increasing the level of customer service. They also do their best to collaborate with suppliers and customers based on the information sharing. This case introduces a integrated approach to develop a logistics automation and information system for the spare parts distribution center of L electronics. We pursue to optimize the supply chain by implementing intelligent logistics system which has the capabilities of responding to the changes in market demands. This would provide many implications to the clients in solving logistics problems and secure superior competitiveness.

As facing the rapid advance of information technologies, the postal service is required to have capabilities of real-time logistics characterized by collaboration, ubiquity and intelligence which are necessary to the organizational management. In this study we discuss the design of the next generation information system based on real-time enterprise strategy to achieve real-time integrity and upgrade of postal information system. After briefly addressing the issues on developing information system and current situation, we provide the design direction and the framework of the to-be system. We develop detailed specification of each subsystem and provide an operational scenario. We believe when this framework is put into use, it can contribute to competitive performance by giving the integrity and consistency in implementing information systems of the Korea Postal Service.

도미노적 기술 진화가 제공하는 선진적 IT 인프라는 경영환경을 급변시키고 있다. 이에 따라, 기업은 내부 사업 프로세스 참여자들과 외부고객, 공급자 및 사업 파트너들이 실시간으로 정보를 획득하고, 공유할 수 있는 체계를 갖추고 급변하는 사업환경에 대응하고자 한다. 이러한 환경에 대응하는 2000 년대의 미래경영이 디지털 가치 경영이며, 이를 확장하여 전략적 개념으로 형상화하여 정의한 것이 실시간 기업(Real-Time Enterprise, 이하 RTE) 전략이다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 실시간 정보화 전략 개념에 대해 고찰하고 이를 토대로 실시간 기반 우편 정보화 목표 시스템을 설계한다. 또한 하위 시스템들에 대한 상세한 기능 설계와 운영시나리오도 함께 제시한다. 본 연구에 제시된 구축방향 및 모형을 토대로 우편 정보화 정책들이 수립되어 지속적으로 추진된다면 우편사업의 생산성 향상과 국제적 경쟁력 제고에 크게 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
A Comparative Study of Two-phase Heuristic Approaches to General Job Shop Scheduling Problem

Scheduling is one of the most important issues in the planning and operation of production systems. This paper investigates a general job shop scheduling problem with reentrant work flows and sequence dependent setup times. The disjunctive graph representation is used to capture the interactions between machines in job shop. Based on this representation, four two-phase heuristic procedures are proposed to obtain near optimal solutions for this problem. The obtained solutions in the first phase are substantially improved by reversing the direction of some critical disjunctive arcs of the graph in the second phase. The purpose of this study is to develop an effective scheduling methodology for a realistic flow shopsequencing problem. The flow shop consists of two machines where only the first machine has separable, external, and sequence dependent setup times. The length of setup times required for a job depends not on the immediately preceding job but on the job which is two steps prior to it. The problem is solved by a backward dynamic programming with the objective of minimizing the makespan. An optimal schedule is found and its performance is examined through a simulation study.
