This study investigated field data to understand the spatio-temporal distribution of pollinating insects and buckwheat flowers. We set the in-situ observation sites in different locations to get altitude and cropping system distribution data for five years (2016 to 2020) in Korea. Twenty-five different insect species, belonging to 8 orders, were recorded. Over the past five years, species from the orders Diptera and Hymenoptera were the principal visitors. Hymenoptera was mainly represented by honey bees (Apis cerana), while Diptera was represented by bean seed fly (Delia platura) and several other species. Some bees and other Hymenoptera species could, however, act as co-pollinators because of their high relative frequency and activity. Compared with open-field cultivation (conventional), the pollination mediating effect of flies and bees was superior in net house, so the yield was high, and it was also found to be slightly higher in the mixed treatment of flies and bees than in the single treatment. Based on the above results, flies and bees were found to be the most active pollinating insects in buckwheat and it is necessary to actively utilize the selected insects to improve buckwheat productivity. This relationship will be utilized in establishing the system of seed production on pollinating regulation of a primary plant.

This study was carried out to investigate growth characteristics for optimum shading levels on wildflower seedling culture shading levels were treated 4 grades of 30%, 50%, 70% and 90% shading net on rain-shelter. Wild-flower species were used 10 species of Primula sieboldi, Jeffersonia dubia, Iris koreana, Convallaria keiskei, Disporum smilacinum, Primula modesta var. fauriae, Hylomecon vernale, Asarum sieboldii, Astlenium scolmpendrium and Tricyrtis dilatata.. This plants were cultivated during one year in pot(4 inch).<br/> Levels of shading for optimum growth were different depending on species; 30% shading for 2 including Primula sieboldi and Jeffersonia dubia, 50% for Iris koreana, 70% for 2 includung Convallaria keiskei and Disporum smilacinum, and 90% for 5 including Primula modesta var. fauriae, Hylomecon vernale, Asarum sieboldii, Astlenium scolmpendrium and Tricyrtis dilatata.

앵초, 설앵초와 애기나리를 인위적으로 저온 처리하여 조기에 휴면 타파시켜 동계 생산에 필요한 저온요구시간을 구명하고자 저온시간을 각각 300, 500, 700, 900시간으로 처리하여 수행한 결과 앵초는 700시간이상, 설앵초와 애기나리는 모두 500시간 이상 저온(5℃)을 받으면 화경장이 신장되고 개화율도 높아지는 것으로 보아 휴면이 완전히 타파된 것으로 판단되었다. 따라서 앵초, 설앵초와 애기나리의 동계생산을 위해서는 5℃의 저온에 500~700시간 이상을 두었다가 온실로 옮겨 재배하면 2월 상순에 분화상품 생산이 가능할 것으로 생각된다. This study has been conducted to find out the possibility of the winter production for pot cultured plants, such as P. sieboldii, P. modesta var. fauriae and D. smilacinum in highland, 800 meter above sea level by early breaking dormancy. Low temperatures for breaking dormancy were treated for 300, 500, 700 and 900 hours under 5℃ in incubators and, then these plants were moved to greenhouse controlled at 10℃ of night temperature. Results showed that P. modesta var. fauriae and D. smilacinum, and P. smilacinum required more than 500 hours and 700 hours of low temperature 5℃ for breaking dormancy, respectively.

This study was carried out to investigate growth characteristics for selection of proper wild-flowers for indoor pot culture from April to September. Light was treated 6 grades of 1k, 2k, 3k, 5k, 7k and 10klux using shading net under rain-shelter shaded 50% shading net. Wild-flower species were used fourteen species of Saxifraga stolonifera, Heloniopsis orientalis, Hylomecon hylomeconoides, Hepatica asiatica, Aquilegia buergeriana, Ixeris stolonifera, Caltha palustris ect. This plants were cultivated one year in pot(4 inch). The results were as follows : Shading condition on the plant height and ornamental worth during cultivation period of several wild flowers, It was highly appeared to cultivated under 7klux for Aceriphyllum rossii and Sedum oryzifolium,, under 5klux for Caltha palustris, Aquilegia buergeriana, Ixeris stolonifera, Thymus quinquecostatus, Dracocephalum argunense, under 3klux for Hepatica asiatica and Hylomecon hylomeconoides, under 1klux for Saxifraga stolonifera and Heloniopsis orientalis.<br/> Among wild-flowers of 14 species, wild flowers for potential indoor pot cultivation were selected eleven species of Saxifraga stolonifera, Heloniopsis orientalis Hylomecon hylomeconoides, Hepatica asiatica, Aquilegia buergeriana, Ixeris stolonifera, Caltha palustris, Thymus quinquecostatus, Dracocephalum argunense, Aceriphyllum rossii and Sedum oryzifolium. because selected wild flowers showed good performances in ornamental worth and period of flower and leaf, also short plant height and small leaves.

A new Asiatic hybrid lily 'Redsky' cultivar was selected from a cross between 'Vivaldi' cultivar with pale pink color flower as mother plant and 'Prato' with orange colored flower in 2000 year. The selected bulb line was propagated and cultivated for line nomenclature as 'Gonong-F-na-10'. The survey of the growth and flower characteristics of 'Gonong-F-na-10' were conducted from 2005 to 2007 on summer cropping system under structure in Highland Agriculture Research Center, NICS, RDA. After all 'Gonong-F-na-10' was named as 'Redsky'. The flowers of the 'Redsky' cultivar had not soft hair and fragrance, and had orange red (O-R N30D) colored petals with dark brown spots in center of flower. The stem color was dark pink and brown caused by anthocyanin pigment, the stigma and pollen colors were brown. Flowering direction was upward. The flowering date was July 7 so early flowering. The plant height was 97.2 ㎝ so long, number of flowers was 4.9 ea, and length of flower bud was 9.3 cm. The bulb weight was about 34.8 g and its bulb size was about 14.8 ㎝ in circumference. 'Redsky' cultivar was registered as a new variety with No. 3119 in Korea Seed and Variety Service on June of 2010. '레드스카이(Redsky)' 품종은 2000년에 연한 분홍색 품종인 'Vivaldi' 품종을 모본으로 하고 오렌지색 품종인 'Prato' 품종을 부본으로 교배한 계통에서 선발하였으며 증식 및 양구를 통하여 고농F나-10호로 계통을 명명하였고 2005-2007년까지 대관령에서 여름 시설재배를 통하여 생육 및 개화특성을 검정한 후 '레드스카이(Redsky)'로 명명하였다. '레드스카이(Redsky)' 품종은 꽃에 솜털과 향이 없으며 화색이 오렌지 적색(O-R N30D)이고 꽃잎 내부 중심부에 진한 갈색 반점이 있으며 줄기색은 안토시아닌 색소가 들어 있어 진한 자주색이다. 개화방향은 상향이며 주두색은 갈색이고 꽃가루색도 갈색이다. 개화기는 7월 7일로 빠르고 초장은 97.2㎝로 길며, 절화당 꽃 수는 4.9개, 화뢰장은 9.3㎝였으며 구중은 34.8g이고 구주는 14.8㎝의 특성을 가지고 있다. '레드스카이(Redsky)' 품종은 2010년 6월 국립종자원에 신품종으로 등록(3119호)되었다.

Potato glycoalkaloids (PGA) are potentially toxic to human at high levels and current safety regulations have recommended that PGA content in tubers should not exceed 20 mg/100g·FW. The purpose of this study was to evaluate α-chaconine, α-solanine and total PGA content in tuber peel and flesh of 24 potato cultivars including ‘Haryeoung’, ‘Goun’, ‘Hongyoung’ and ‘Jayoung’. The total PGA ranged from 3.1 to 10.1 mg/100g·FW and 41-85% of total PGA was accumulated in tuber peel in all cultivars. Potato cultivars with lower level of PGA were ‘Jasim’ (3.1 mg/100g·FW) and ‘Goun’ (3.4mg/100g·FW), whereas ‘Haryoung’ exhibited the highest level of PGA, 10.1 mg/100g·FW. Especially ‘Jasim’ and ‘Goun’ with the lower level of PGA can be consumed along with the peel on tubers. Also, these results provide the composition and levels of PGA in various potato cultivars for food safety and breeding of new cultivars with low levels of PGA for potato breeders and farmers.

‘Gondalbi’ (Ligularia stenocephala (Maxim.) Matsum. & Koidz.) is the most cultivated Gomchwi species because of higher yield and low in aromatic flavor and bitter taste, But ‘Gondalbi’ is susceptible to powdery mildew disease and leaf shriveling after harvest in Summer. To improve powdery mildew disease resistance and post-harvest leaf shriveling problem in ‘Gondalbi’, ‘Handeari-gomchwi’ resistant to powdery mildew disease and having higher yield potential used as a paternal trait donor. Powdery mildew disease resistance and post-harvest leaf shriveling as well as agronomic performance of a new variety, ‘Greenbear’ were tested under field and green house conditions in Pyungchang, Korea from 2007 to 2016. Expression of both maternal and paternal characteristics in ‘Greenbear’ including purple colored petiole ears, glossy leaf and paternal, petiole trichome, absent at the back of a leaf were confirmed. Plant size and flowering time of ‘Greenbear’ were similar to check line, ‘Gommany’, while leaf number per plant and yield were higher in ‘Greenbear’. ‘Greenbear’ has thinner leaves (0.66㎜) compared to ‘Gommany (0.69 ㎜)’, and hardness appeared slightly higher in ‘Greenbear(25.1 ㎏/ ㎠)’. The resistance to powdery mildew disease of the ‘Greenbear’ variety was slightly lower than that of the ‘Gommany’ variety, but somewhat showed high resistance. ‘그린베어(Greenbear)’ 품종은 곰취를 모본으로 하고 한대리곰취를 부본으로 해서 교배 육종을 하였다. 2007년부터 2016년까지 국립식량과학원 고령지농업연구소 하우스 및 노지에서 생육 및 수량 특성을 조사하고 선발을 수행하였다. ‘그린베어’ 품종에 있어서 엽병귀 색은 자주색이고 엽병에 털이 없다. 그리고잎 뒷면에 털이 없어 광택이 있다. 엽맥 밀도는 2등급으로 아주넓은 편이다. 생육 특성은 초장이 67.3 ㎝, 엽장 16.3 ㎝, 엽폭20.4 ㎝, 엽병장은 39.1 ㎝ 였다. 식물체 크기는 ‘곰마니’ 품종보다 전체적으로 작은 것으로 나타났다. 추대기는 8월 7일이었고, 개화기는 9월 6일로 ‘곰마니’ 품종과 유사하였다. 엽수는 주당176매로 ‘곰마니’ 품종 139매 보다 37매나 많았다. 그리고 주당수량도 1,936 g으로 ‘곰마니’ 품종 1,575 g보다 23%정도 더 많았다. 잎의 경도는 25.1 ㎏/㎠, 잎의 두께는 0.66 ㎜로 ‘곰마니’ 품종과 유사한 것으로 나타났다. ‘그린베어’ 품종의 흰가루병 저항성은 ‘곰마니’ 품종보다는 약간 낮지만 어느정도 높은 저항성을 보였다.
