KEPCO proposes enhanced voltage management system that is a coordinate voltage control system between the hierarchical voltage control system and the slow voltage control system. It has been installing in Jeju island. VMS consists of a master controller, CVC (Continuous Voltage Controller) and DVC (Discrete Voltage Controller). CVC consists of main controller, FDMU (Field Data Measurement Unit) and several RPDs (Reactive Power Dispatcher). CVC has a control scheme with AVRs of generator to maintain the voltage of a pilot bus in a power system, DVC has a control scheme with static reactive power sources, like a shunt capacitor, a shunt reactor, ULTC and so on, to maintain the reactive power reserve of a power system and a master controller is executed to recover reactive power margin of a power system through coordinated control between CVC and DVC.

본 논문에서는 축약프로그램과 RTDS를 이용하여 WAMAC시스템 Test-bed를 구축하고, PSS/E와 RTDS 시뮬레이션 결과 비교를 통해 Test-bed의 신뢰성을 검증 하였다. 또, 계통 축약 전/후의 시뮬레이션 결과 비교를 통해 계통 축약이 적절히 수행되었음을 보였다.

Recent technology advancement related to computer & communication and measuring devices allows system operators to adopt more intelligent monitoring and control systems to their power systems in order to prevent massive system blackout. Among them, wide-area monitoring and control(WAMAC) system based on synchro-phasor technology has been widely applied to power systems for their own purposes. In this paper, the study on the development of load shedding scheme to improve voltage stability in KEPCO system is introduced. Summary of WAMAC technology being developed and applied in the world through extensive literature survey is proposed. And methodology to develop voltage stability index and multi-step load shedding scheme based on synchro-phasor data is also presented.

This paper deals with the parameter tuning of the PSS for a 335 MVA pumped storage power plant in KEPCO system and its validation in field test. In the paper, the selection of parameters such as lead-lag time constants for phase compensation, system gain was selected by using linear & eigenvalue analyses. Then, they were verified through the time-domain transient stability analysis. In the next step, the performance of PSS was finally verified by the generator's on-line field test.
