의미연결망 분석을 활용한 아동학대에 대한 대중의 인식 연구

최근 ‘정인이 사건’, ‘구미 3세 여아 사건’ 등 아동을 사망에 이르게 했던 아동학대 사건들이 연이어 발생하면서 사회적 공분이 이어지고 있다. 이처럼 증가일로 있는 아동학대를 효율적으로 개선하기 위해서는 아동학대에 대한 전반적 사회인식의 개선이 선행되어야 할 것이며 이러한 인식의 개선이 없이 아동학대를 효율적으로 예방하는 것은 불가능할 것이다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 아동학대에 대한 대중의 인식을 파악하기 위해 아동학대 및 ‘양천 아동학대 사건’을 보도한 온라인 뉴스 기사의 댓글들을 활용하였다. R 프로그램을 이용한 웹 크롤링 및 스크래핑을 통해 데이터를 수집하였으며, 키워드 빈도 분석, 연관단어 분석, 의미연결망 분석을 통해 상위 50개의 키워드, ‘학대’, ‘체벌’과 연관된 키워드를 추출하였고 키워드 간의 의미 구조를 파악하였다. 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, ‘양천 아동학대 사건’ 등 아동학대를 보도한 뉴스의 댓글에는 피해자에 대한 애도, 입양·수사·재판 기관에 대한 비판·비난, 가해자에 대한 분노 등의 표현이 자주 등장했다. 국민 대다수는 아동학대의 심각성을 인지하고 있고, 훈육을 가장한 체벌을 학대로 인식하고 있으며 이러한 인식은 시간의 흐름에 따라 크게 변하고 있지 않았다. 둘째, 수사기관에 대한 불신, 입양·재혼 가정 등 비혈연 가정에 대한 사회적 편견도 확인되었다. 마지막으로 아동을 사망에 이르게 할 만큼 학대 행위의 심각성이 높았던 아동학대 사건이 발생했을 때 아동학대에 대한 사람들의 관심이 급격하게 증가하고 있었다. 본 연구는 아동학대에 대한 대중의 인식을 파악하여 아동학대에 대한 올바른 인식 제고와 지속적인 관심을 높이기 위한 방안을 마련하고 나아가 아동학대 예방과 관련하여 실효성 있는 정책과 제도를 수립하는데 기여할 수 있을 것으로 보인다. As recent increasing number of child abuse cases in South Korea, it is considered a serious social problems in our society. In particular, prevention of child abuse is impossible without improving the society’s overall awareness perceived as child abuse is an important issue. Therefore, the purpose of current study is to examine the public perception of child abuse by analyzing news and comments related to child abuse and ‘Yangcheon Child Abuse Incident’. The results from analyses suggested that the majority of people were aware of the seriousness of child abuse and perceived corporal punishment under the guise of discipline as abuse, and this perception had not significantly changed much over time. In addition, distrust of investigative organization and social prejudice against non-blood families such as adoptive families and remarried families appeared. Finally, when a child abuse incident occurred, in which the severity of the abuse was high enough to result in the death of a child, people’s interest in child abuse increased rapidly. On the other hand, emotional abuse, which is less noticeable, has tended not to be perceived as abuse. The current study make a signficant contribution to develop measures for raising the right awareness and continuing interest in child abuse by identifying public awareness of child abuse. The limits of the current study and suggestions for future research were also discussed.
