The characteristics of grinding and wear behavior of diamond wheel for grinding optic connector ferrule was investigated by finite element analysis and wear test in this study. FEA of contact between diamond wheel and ferrule shows that subsurface damage area of ferrule is 13㎛ from grinding contact point. Fallout of abrasives is affected by stress state at the interface. A 2-D finite element model is established to calculate the distribution of stress at the interface. As a result of FEA, fallout condition of abrasive is that the ratio of the critical protrusion and the particle size is about 0.6. To investigate the effect of concentration of wheel, FE model is established. As a result of FEA, lower concentration of diamond wheel has more wear volume because of smaller stress propagation.
