디지털 산업의 발전은 사회 전반에 거쳐 여러 분야에 커다란 변화를 가져왔으며 이는 자동차 개발 분야에서도 다양한 활용이 시도 되고 있다. 컴퓨터는 이제 자동차 개발 프로세스와 동시 공학(CE : Concurrent Engineering)적 측면에서 최우선의 위치를 차지하고 있다. 자동차의 스타일 경향은 사회, 경제적 환경과 기술의 발달 그리고 소비자의 가치관 변화에 따라 여러 각도로 변화한다. 이미 오래전 해외의 각 자동차 메이커들은 자동차 개발에 디지털 프로세스를 도입하였고 국내의 메이커들 또한 지난 90년대 초반부터 디지털 디자인 개념을 도입하여 각 회사의 프로세스에 맞게 응용하여 발전시키고 있다. 글로벌 프로세스에서 디지털은, 디자인을 표준화 할 수 있는 도구이며 Cost-down과 Time-saving 부분에서 조직 간의 새로운 커뮤니케이션 수단이 되었다 본 논문은 디지털 디자인의 새로운 프로세스 정립과 실무에서 얻은 경험을 토대로 자동차의 조형에 대하여 접근하였다 또한 디지털의 속성 및 여러 문제점들을 분석하고 이해하고자 하였으며, 현 자동차 스타일 트랜드에 부합되는 조형과 디지털 디자인의 상관관계를 연구하고 그 사례들을 예로 들어 분석하였다. The development in the Digital industry has brought great changes in various fields and is also being applied in automotive development industries. Computer now stands in a very important position in automotive development process and concurrent engineering. Automotive style trend has changed in many directions through social, economic circumstances, technology development and consumer state of value. It has been long since digital process being a part of each overseas automotive makers and since the early 90's domestic makers have registered the concept on digital design and are now formulating a method suitable for its' process. In global process, Digital is a tool which can standardize design, and has become the method of communication between organizations in terms of cost-down and time-saving. This paper approaches Digital design process based on actual digital modeling experience. Also it analyses and takes in consideration the properties of digital process as well as the various problems, and studies the relationship between structures and digital design corresponding to the current automotive style trend which will be analyzed cased by case.
