The present study has been conducted to an analysis of two stage refrigeration cycle with alternative refrigerant R410A. In the analysis, single stage cycle (R22 and R410A) compared to COP changing with supercooling degree. Secondly, two stage refrigeration cycle is investigated to the existence of intercooler or supercooler. At results, supercooler contributes to the increase of cooling capacity and the decrease of COP.

Gas diffusion layer(GDL) in PEMFC performs the discharge of water vapor smoothly. When GDL is revealed to cold environment, the freezing of the water droplet or water net in GDL occurs. The purpose of this work is to observe the cooling and freezing behavior of the water droplet which meets to the microporous surface and air under the various low temperature conditions. GDL was coated with waterproof material, which has three types of coating rate, 0, 40 and 60%. Water droplets in series of sizes on GDL were supercooled, frozen and crystalized orderly by circulating low temperature brine. The process of cooling was investigated with the temperature and the snapshot of the water droplet.

Cold storage to agricultural products preservation is maintained with low temperature and high humidity which is formed by evaporator in refrigerator. Typically, heat sources of the defrost operation is supplied by using a heater, at this time, defrost power consumption accounts for 15% of the overall power consumption. Defrost characteristics of defrost system using thermal storage method are analyzed by flow path of working fluid for supply defrost heat using refrigeration system with 1/2HP compressor and replicate by using a water bath. Power consumption of the pump increases in proportion to the defrost time, showed the lowest power consumption defrosting time 4.3Wh at flow path of 7row. efrost system efficiency using thermal storage is the highest appeared in 12.3 in flow path of 7row and is lowest appeared from flow path of 2row to 4.26.

In a cold chain, the refrigerator is also employed for defrosting, by using an electric heater, which consumes 15% of the power for the system operation. In this study, the condensation heat of the refrigerant was suggested as the heat source of defrosting heat, instead of that from an electric defrost heater. The heat for defrosting was stored to a phase change material (PCM, NMP:52℃) in thermal storage, and was periodically supplied to the evaporator by a circulation loop of brine. As a result, a defrost time by the PCM was obtained that was less than or equal to that by the electric heater. Moreover, power consumption during defrosting was saved by up to 99% of that of the electric heater.

The electricity demand in korea is continuously rising due to economic growth, higher living standards, different weather patterns caused by climate change, and wider distribution of electric devices. In particular, the increase of heating power consumption contributes to maximum in winter. Electric Heat Pump(EHP) is one of the factors that increases power consumption. In this work, we investigated the effect of EHP on the peak load of electricity and peak load shift of electric heat pump using indirect thermal storage. As a result, heating power consumption for EHP is 38% of total heating power consumption and effect of peak shift is 4.5% using indirect thermal storage in 2011.

The purpose of this work is to observe the cooling and freezing phenomenon of the droplet which contacts to the microporous surface under the various low temperature conditions. GDL was coated with waterproof material, which has three types of coating, 0, 40 and 60%. In order to observe the phenomenon, the water droplet and net on GDL were supercooled, frozen and crystalized using by low temperature thermostat under sub zero surrounding.

It is proposed that the dissolved air in pure water has been related to the release of supercooling. In this study, a supercooling experiment is performed to test tubes of pure water with three fixed initial dissolved oxygen(DO=4.1, 7.5, and 12.6 mg/L), i.e. dissolved air. The initial DO in each test tube is maintained to constant during supercooling, as possible. And the pressure effect on supercooling release of pure water is observed to supercooling degree and visualization of bubbles enclosed to the ice after full crystallization of the pure water. At results, the distribution and maximum of supercooling degree in each initial DO relate to the initial DO in pure water. Moreover, the supercooling degree of pure water relates to the pressure of the pure water. And the distribution of bubble in ice proves the effect of the initial DO and the pressure of supercooled water.
