This study present a novel framework for damage localization method using a displacement-based partitioned (DP) formulation. Damage in structures is typically modeled as a local change in mass and stiffness. To capture this local change, we proposed a damage localization technique using the DP formulation. In partitioned formulation, since every substructure are partitioned, the damage is restricted to a local change without affecting other substructure. Unlike the existing partitioned formulation, DP formulation does not require the introduction of variables other than displacement. Additionally, DP formulation exhibits completely the same dynamic response as the conventional assembled formulation. Therefore, the stiffness of the DP formulation can be estimated from the response characteristics of the globally assembled. The study confirms that the proposed partitioned formula fully captures local changes through numerical examples.
