Simulation of defrosting conditions at windshield and front door glasses is becoming increasingly important as a<br/> complement to experimental investigation to achieve improved performance of defrosting system while reducing<br/> development time and cost. But complex surface geometries of defroster duct, crash-pad and passenger cabin make<br/> it hard to take into account the real geometrical configuration. However, with advance of computing system,<br/> numerical approach of defrosting performance prediction is widely used and gives acceptable accurate solution in<br/> recent.<br/> In this paper, we modeled simplified passenger cabin including defroster duct, windshield glass and front door<br/> glasses. To get the time variant solution of defrosting performance in efficient way, we applied steady, three<br/> dimensional flow calculation first. And then, using the result of velocity distribution in defroster duct and passenger<br/> cabin, we performed unsteady defrosting simulation of windshield and front door glasses. The commercial FVM<br/> code FLUENT was used to perform numerical calculation. In results, we summarized flow characteristics in<br/> defroster duct and passenger cabin, and showed transient defrosting patterns of each glasses. And additionally, we<br/> looked into some geometrical factors that affect performance of defrosting system.
