In recent, the rolling stocks are gradually complicated in respect with design and production to improve the safety and reliability. Also, the reliability centered maintenance corresponding with system specification or technical requirements is needed to meet the higher quality in railway service. In present, each railway authorities are collecting the failure"s data using information system, applying those for maintenance works. However, this system has not established with systematic and scientific approach. This paper represents the existing activities and plans for RCM management system for AREX"s EMU.

Railway vehicle is very important to implement the effective maintenance in proper to prevent any failure during operation period. Many railway authorities are making efforts to maintain the railway vehicle through scientific and systematic procedure. To achieve this, Reliability Centered Maintenance(RCM) is partially applied. The efficiency of RCM has proven and its terminology was familiar with nuclear power, military and chemical plant etc. since the commercial aircraft"s industries has introduced the maintenance program based on the target of reliability. The application of RCM on railway vehicle can be utilized with systematic analysis method to select the best effective maintenance period and action to prevent the failures by selecting the equipment affecting the its safety and reliability. This paper is presented that the procedure of adequate and effective maintenance for railway vehicle by comparing among the related standards in example IEC60300-3,11, MIL-STD-2173, and technical documents or papers. In accordance with above result, RCM procedure is proposed to apply effectively for maintenance of railway vehicle. That is, (1) Analysis of data and Calculation of criticality per equipment (2) Selection of equipment to analyze (3) Analysis of failure mode and effect (4) Evaluation of maintenance method and period (5) Optimization of maintenance program through renewal of maintenance method and period.

FMEA(Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) is a failure analysis method for the system to identify the potential failure modes, and their effects and causes to reduce or mitigate the critical effects of the system. FMEA for railway was introduced with reliability of railway system, and this was used for identifying and analysing the possible hazards qualitatively to meet the requirements in early stage of business. In general, the overall failure data of system could be managed from design stage by FMEA, and also the countermeasures to prevent many predicted failures could be established by identification of failure modes and assement of failure effects by FMEA. Using these advantages of FMEA, the effectiveness of reliability improvement could be expected if FMEA is applied continuously in operation stage. It is essential that railway vehicles are maintained with high level of safety and reliability not to happen any failures in operation. This paper is proposed the proper FMEA for maintenance of railway vehicles compared with existing FMEA.

Purpose: We developed a multicriteria decision model to assist decision-makers in determining the optimal inspection intervals based on a set of competing criteria, such as cost, downtime, and availability. Methods: A procedure based on multiattribute utility theory is proposed for developing the model. The proposed approach can simultaneously determine the optimal inspection intervals for monitoring the failure behavior of systems trails to be inspected, maintainability features, and decision-maker preferences for cost, downtime, and availability. Results: We determined the optimal inspection intervals for periodic condition monitoring based on delay time analysis and a multicriteria framework. Conclusion: We developed a multicriteria decision model that includes cost, downtime, and availability for consequences that have multiple dimensions to be considered.

Purpose: This paper introduces two-phase condition-based maintenance by analyzing left-truncated and right-censored field data, with characteristics managed by the existing maintenance schedule. Methods: The failure rate was initially observed as a constant failure rate (CFR) and, after a certain point, as an increasing failure rate (IFR). Therefore, a two-phase condition-based maintenance policy with each stage maintenance cycle was proposed. In addition, a maintenance model was developed to determine the optimal maintenance schedule in terms of economic feasibility. Results: The optimal maintenance schedule was derived by minimizing the total cost, including the inspection cost, failure cost, and improvement factor. Further, changes in the optimal maintenance schedule were examined based on the ratios of the inspection cost, failure cost, and improvement factor. Conclusion: Designing a maintenance policy to evaluate the system conditions and mutual adequacy between the cost and improvement effect in terms of light and medium maintenance is essential.

To apply more effective the RCM analysis for railway vehicle, the maintenance cost per equipment should be considered together with failure criticality per equipment considered in existing. This paper is described the systematic calculation of maintenance cost considering the RCM analysis of railway vehicle. To calculate the maintenance cost systematically, the cost breakdown structure was established, and basic cost information and calculated cost items were defined. In addition, the linking between calculated cost and RCM analysis was considered. In future, this proposal would be used to analysis of cost effectiveness through RCM analysis of railway vehicle.

The railway system consists of many items such as sub-systems, equipments and parts to accomplish the required function. Also the railway system is very complex system that these items are connected with interface among items. According with this complexity, the process of system engineering is applied to the construction of new railway project to manage systematically. In addition, the research about system engineering is progressing in recent. The RAMS management is one part of system engineering, and is to assure the required safety and performance. Also, this RAMS should be managed through system life cycle. This paper show the case study of management of RAMS during construction and operation phase in respect of system life cycle. As a result of this research, the best way of RAMS management based on system engineering in operation phase for railway system is suggested.
방한관광 및 지역관광 활성화를 위한 공항철도의 마케팅 활동

공항철도는 한국의 대표적 관문이자 동북아 허브공항으로 성장하고 있는 인천공항과 서울 도심을 가장 빠르고 편리하게 잇는 대표적인 교통수단으로 자리잡고 있다. 최근 성장하고 있는 방한관광 시장에 선제적으로 대응하고, 방한 외국인 이용객 유치를 위하여 국내외적으로 다양한 마케팅 활동을 시행하고 있다. 또한, 서울, 인천, 영종도 지역을 통과하는 공항철도 노선 주변에는 최근 개통한 인천공항 자기부상열차, 영종도 주변의 섬과 관광자원을 연계한 열차상품 개발 등 적극적인 마케팅 활동을 전개하고 있다. 타 도시철도와는 다른 공항철도만의 노선 및 운영 특성을 최대한 활용한 다양한 마케팅 활동을 통해 방한관광 및 지역관광 활성화에 기여하고 있으며, 이에 공항철도의 대표적인 마케팅 사례와 성과를 소개코자 한다. Airport Railroad(AREX) is getting a position as representative transportation connecting with fast and conveniently from the downtown of Seoul to Incheon airport which is the representative gateway of Korea and is growing as hub-airport in the Northeast Asia. In recent, the market of visiting to Korea is growing. As corresponding with this trend in advance, AREX is executing various marketing in the inside and outside of the country to promote more foreigners visiting to Korea. Also, there are many tour attractions as the Maglev operated in recent in Incheon airport, the sea and beach around Yong-Jong island because AREX line is passing Seoul, Incheon and Yong-Jong. AREX is executing the active marketing as developing of train tour product connected with these tour attractions near line. AREX is contributed with promoting of visiting to Korea and local tour by various marketing using the operational characteristics of AREX different from other metro lines. This paper shows the representative examples and performance of marketing regarding this.

The purpose of Reliability Centered Maintenance(Hereafter, RCM) is to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of preventive maintenance by applying the improvement plan after analysis of existing preventive maintenance. To accomplish this, it is required to collect the failure data for equipments during operation, and to carry out the quantitative criticality analysis for each equipment. This paper shows that the case study of RCM criticality analysis based on the accumulative failure data and following improvement activity for KORAIL AIRPORT RAILROAD's E&M system.
