혈액 , 태편 , 수소이온농도, 양수결정 The investigation was destined to determine the effects of blood and meconium at various dilutions and pH alterations on fern test. Forty-four specimens of amniotic fluid across gestational ages(24 to 42 weeks) were involved. The results which were summarized were as follows: The fern test was unaffected by blood at dilutions of 1:10 or greater and by meconium at any concentration. When blood and amniotic fluid were mixed in equal amounts, ferning was not present. Arborization of amniotic fluid was unaffected by various pH alterations, 3~5 and 8~10. Judging from the result obtained, it was considered that fern test for the determination of ruptured membraines is simple and very useful tool, even in the presence of blood or meconium contamination, and of pH alterations.
