It was fauntl that the extracts of Codium fragile(Codisceae) had a anthelmintic action on Ascaris suilla and further examinations were made on the allthelmintic Cumponents of the seaweed. The anthejmintic principle is solubk in water, adsorbed in aqueous entract with activilteri carbon and eluted from the carbon with 90% aqueous methanol solution. It is also adsorbed on alumina and Ambcriie IR-120 (H-Type). The anthelmintic effective fractions were prepared by the use of these properties. The action 0f the active principle ol codium frafile waspharmacologicallr examined. The aclive principle of codium frafile was found to decrease the tencity, tonus, mobility and amplitud of eisenia foetida (Savigny) nerve muscles. The active principle of the efieclive fractions were submitted topaper pactition chromatography and a yellow spot to ninhydrin was detected at Rf 0.37.

It was found that the extracts of sargassum thunbergii (Sargassaceae)had a anthelmintic action on Ascaris suiila and further examinations were made on the anthelmintic Components of the seaweed. The anthelmintic principle is solube in water, adsorbed in aqueous extract with activated carbon and eluted from the carbon with 90% equruus methanol solution. But it is not adsorbed on alumina and amberitc IR-120 (H-type). The anthelmintic efrectire fractions were prepared by the use of tliese properties. The action of the active principle of Sargnssuin thunbergii was pharmncologi-cally examined. The active principle of sargassum thunbergii was found to decrease the tensity, tonus mobility and amplitude of Eisenia foetida (Savigni)nerve muscles. The active principle of the effective fractions were submitted to papar partition chromatography but yellow spot LO ninhydrin was not revealed.

gallate was previously isolated from Persicaria lapathifolia (Polygonaceae) as an inhibitorof superoxide production. In the present study, quercitrin gallate was found to inhibit interleukin (IL)-6 productionin lipopolysacharide (LPS)-stimulated macrophages RAW 264.7 with an IC50 value of 63M. Furthermore,quercitrin gallate attenuated LPS-induced synthesis of IL-6 transcript but also inhibited LPS-induced IL-6promoter activity, indicating that the compound could down-regulate IL-6 expression at the transcription level.y role in LPS-inducible IL-6 expression, an effect ofquercitrin gallate on LPS-induced NF-kB activation was further analyzed. Quercitrin gallate exhibited a dose-dependent inhibitory effect on LPS-induced nuclear translocation of NF-kB without affecting inhibitory kB (IkB)degradation, and subsequently inhibited LPS-induced NF-kB transcriptional activity in macrophages RAW 264.7.Taken together, quercitrin gallate down-regulated LPS-induced IL-6 expression by inhibiting NF-kB activation,diseases.KeywordsQuercitrin gallate, IL-6 expression, NF-kB activation, macrophages RAW 264.7
