        정원상(Won-Sang Jung),문황운(Hwangwoon Moon),박훈영(Hun-Young Park) 한국발육발달학회 2018 한국발육발달학회지 Vol.26 No.3

The study was designed to investigate the effects of a 12-week combined exercise training on dailyliving physical fitness in active obesity elderly men. Twenty-two obesity elderly men were randomly assigned to one of following two groups, i.e., combined exercise training group (EG: n=10) and control group (CG: n=12). The subjects in the EG group completed 110-120 min of combined exercise program for three times a week during 12 weeks, whereas the subjects in the CG group were asked to maintain their normal lifestyle during the same period of the intervention. Main results of the present study were as follows: 1) Regarding body composition, body weight (p<.001), BMI (p<.001), free fat mass (p<.001), and % fat mass (p<.001) improved significantly in the EG group, but body weight (p<.05) and BMI (p<.05) improved significantly in the CG, % fat mass (p<.001) increased significantly in the CG. 2) Regarding daily-living physical fitness, Grip strength (p<.01), Upper arm flexion (p<.01), Chair sit to stand (p<.001), Pegboard (p<.001), Sit-and-reach (p<.01), Timed up and go (p<.05), and One leg standing (p<.001) improved significantly in the EG group, but Chair sit to stand (p<.01), Sit-and-reach (p<.01) improved significantly in the CG, Pegboard (p<.05) reduced significantly in the CG. Based on the results, it was concluded that the 12-week combined exercise training would contribute on improving body composition and daily-living physical fitness in active obesity elderly men. Future research investigating the effects of various mode, period, intensity, duration, and frequency of combined exercise training on indices of health in active obesity elderly men would be warranted.
