Vol.28 No.2

The purpose of this study is to determine the characteristics of ground reaction force(GRF) in golf swing for various slopes of flat lie and uphill lies of 5 and 10 degrees. Five right-handed professional golfers were selected for the experiment and the 7 iron club was used. We used four forceplates to measure GRF and synchronized with the three-dimensional motion analysis system. Results showed that slope did not affect the total time for golf swing, but the time until the impact had a tendency to slightly increase for the uphill lie(p<0.05). The medial-lateral GRF of the right foot increased toward the medial direction during back swing, but less increases were found with the angle of uphill lie(p<0.05). The GRF of the left foot increased rapidly toward the medial direction at the uncocking and the impact during down swing, but decreased with the increase in the angle of uphill lie(p<0.05). The anterior-posterior GRF of both feet showed almost the same for different slopes. With the slopes, the vertical GRF of the right foot increased, but the vertical GRF of left foot decreased(p<0.05). Uphill lies would have negative effect to provide the angular momentum during back swing, restricting pelvic and trunk rotations, and to provide the precise timing and strong power during down swing, limiting movements of body's center of mass. The present study could provide valuable information to quantitatively analyze the dynamics of golf swing. Further study would be required to understand detailed mechanism in golf swing under different conditions.

The Study for the Characteristics on the Various Service Movements and Postures of the Flight Attendants

Vol.8 No.3

Purpse : The purpose of this study lies on building the base data of presenting the possibility of musculoskeletal disorders by understanding the characteristics of the movements and postures of the flight attendants through the scientific studies of various and repetitive service movements, related to work-related muscular skeletal disorder, WRMSD. Method : Twelve female flight attendants working for the A airline in Korea(age: 30.26±5.42 years, height: 168.24±3.17 cm, weight: 50.79±2.76 kg, work experience: 7.85±5.57 years) participated in this study. The stoop positions were classified into serving the wine postures and delivering food tray postures which are serving wine or food tray to aisle seat and window seat. Regarding the degree of flexion of the knee joint, the squat positions were classified to customer reception posture (CRP), putting food tray into the bottom of cart (PFTBC), putting food tray into the middle of cart (PFTMC). Result : The stoop position of serving wine and delivering food tray was showed to bend the waist about 30 to 60 degree and make upper body as straight as possible by making the flexion of hip joint rather than lowering the upper body part, making typical posture of bending the waist. The postures including squat position such as were showed to lead the flexion of knee joint to 160 degree which increases pressure of patellofemoral joint. Conclusion : The study found out that the stoop position including serving wine and delivering food tray of flight attendants increases the possibility to cause back pain more in lumbar spine. Also, the squat position including CRP, PFTBC, PFTMC postures were caused to increase muscle fatigue by occurring the much muscle moment for the related joints such as the hip and knee flexions and ankle dorsiflexion movement. It could be possible to cause the patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS), chondromalacia patella, degenerative arthritis because of increasing the patellofemoral compressing force (PCF) of knee joint. Conclusionally, flight attendants should be recommended to perform the service movements and postures naturally and strengthen muscle usually not to get pain, injuries and disorders.

Vol.9 No.1

The purpose of this study was analyze the vertical jump with the kinetic variable of force platform and the kinematic variable of cinematography. It's used the digital 6mm video camera(GR-DVL9500, JVC, JAPAN) for the cinematographical data and the force platform of Bertec company(B30201 type 4060A). Collecting data was 600Hz from force platform and 60 frame/sec from video camera and shutter speed was 1/500 sec. The pattern of the ground reaction force curve was a little different between two subjects. Specially, it showed significant difference on the factor of time. But, the landing point was similar between each other (0.02sec difference). So, even though there is a difference of time factor in movement phase, no difference in the flight time. The angle and angular velocity showed the difference on the movement time point of take-off phase that it seemed giving a effect on the max force, but it didn't give a effect on the max jump height and flight time.

Vol.0 No.37

The purpose of this study is to determine the characteristics of the kinematics in golf swing for the flat and uphill sidehill lie of 10 degrees. Ten right-handed professional golfers were selected for the experiment and the 7 iron club was used. We used the three-dimensional motion analysis system(VICON). The maximum club head velocity was showed 36.42±2.71m/s on the FL, 35.70±1.88m/s on the USL. The slopes didn`t have much effect on the coiling of lower limbs during back swing, the blocking of the lower limbs to minimize the dispersion of the weight and the release of the lower limbs after the impact during down swing. But, to swing with the good balance on the USL, the ankle joint needed to be more dorsiflexion than on the FL.

Vol.18 No.2

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of high heeled shoes with the total contact insert (TCI) on the frontal plane of the joints for the lower extremity during the gait. Ten healthy females voluntarily participated in this study and the height of the high heeled shoes was 7 ㎝. A three-dimensional motion analysis system (VICON) and force plates were used to analyze the movements of the joints for the lower extremities. The results were as follows: There were no significant differences for the angle value on the event of the gait cycle in the maximum eversion and inversion of the ankle joint, the varus and valgus of the knee joint, and the adduction and abduction of the hip joint (p>.05). But, there was a significant difference or the range of motion in the ankle joint (p<.05). The value of ankle and knee moment with a TCI was less than the value for no TCI. And there were significant differences for the moment value of the maximum inversion and eversion on the ankle joint and for the maximum varus and valgus on the knee joint (p<.05). Therefore, a TCI would be effective in stabilizing the joints of the lower extremities and increasing the balance of a body to reduce the injure from a fall during the gait.
