Transparent photovoltaic (TPV) is a technology to generate the electric power from the light energy with a high visible transmittance. This TPV has a high potential to govern the energy of buildings by adopting in window systems for UV blocking, daylighting, thermal comfort, and onsite power generation. The novel scheme of energy control is realized by coupling a transparent heater (TH) and TPV. The solid-state energy unit of TPV-TH module is realized by metal oxide heterojunction and inorganic nanomaterials. A large-scale TPV-TH window has the high visible transparency (>60%) and obviously shows the self-powered heating function, which is given by the solar and electric energy from the transparent photovoltaics. The built-in demonstration of TPV-TH module clearly indicates the promise of the window to be the active power generator and energy governor. Someday soon, we will see the world through the transparent window energy system.
