이 논문은 한국 고유의 사회적 요소와 유교적 모델을 따르는 요소간의 관계를 설명하면서, 한국 사회는 이와 같은 두 요소의 교묘한 결합에 의해서 문화사적으로 형성되어 있음을 말하고 있다. 이와 같은 근거는 어떤 사회의 현실이 ‘사회적 혹은 문화적으로 구성된다’는 가설에 따른 것으로, 이를 위해 이 논문에서는 유교화 되기 이전의 전통사회 특징을 파악하고 이것이 유교화 된 이후 어떻게 그 사회 속에서 문화사적으로 형성되었는지를 확인하고 있다. 유교화되기 이전 한국 사회는 씨족氏族 혹은 족族 중심의 사회로, 그 사람의 사회적 신분은 어느 족에 속하는가에 따라 정치의 참여 범위가 규정될 정도였다. 대표적으로 신라의 골품제도 등은 이러한 모습을 잘 보여주고 있다. 특히 이러한 족은 남성과 여성 모두에게 계승되는 쌍계적(bilateral) 양상을 보여준 특징을 가지고 있다. 이 논문은 바로 이와 같은 족 집단이 한국사회의 지속성과 생명력을 부여했다는 사실을 논증하고 있다. 이와 같은 사회적 특징은 유교 사회로 이행하면서도 제사나 종손과 같은 의식들을 통해서 여전히 살아 있다. 다만 유교 사회로 이행되면서 그 이전에는 쌍계적이었던 고유사회의 족 집단 의식이 부계 중심으로 바뀌는 모습들이 경험되고 있다. 이러한 모습들은 결국 ‘한국적 요소’와 ‘유교적 요소’가 상호작용하면서 한국 사회를 만들어 왔던 것이다. This paper explains relationship between Korean indigenous social elements and confucian model and shows that Korean society is formed by skillful combination in cultural history. These bases conform to an assumption that a society actuality 'is made up socially and culturally'. In this paper, I grasp the feature of traditional society before becoming confucianization and, identify that how the feature is formed in cultural history in the society after becoming confucianization. As Korean society before becoming confucianization is a clan society or kinship-based society, which the social status of the man belong to a descent group, participation limits of politics was determined. Typically, kolp’um system of Silla and the like show such a feature. Specially, this descent has the feature which shows bilateral aspect that is succeeded to both men and women. This paper demonstrates that this descent group have given Korean society it's stability and longevity. This social feature lives still through ceremonies like Jesa or the primogeniture heir. Only, being transferred to the confucian society, group consciousness of indigenous society which was bilateral changed to a patrilineal society, these features are experienced. In the end, ‘Korean element’ and ‘confucian element’ interacts, and these feature has made Korean society.
