UHPC를 활용한 전시기획과 식재 조형물 디자인 - ‘녹색과 회색 인프라의 통합’ 개념을 중심으로 -

본 논문은 UHPC(초고강도콘크리트)를 활용한 전시의 기획과 식물의 식재를 포함한 조형물의 디자인이 언어적 의미로 출발하여 상징적 이미지로 구현되는 과정을 기록하는데 연구의 목적이 있다. 전시의 기획은 회색 공간과 녹색 공간으로 분리하여 회색 공간은 콘크리트 인공 구조물로만 조성하고, 그 반대편에 식물을 식재한 그린공간을 설치하여 한 공간에 회색도시와 녹색 자연이 공존하는 극적인 대비를 연출하였다. 전시기획의 테마는 스웨덴의 언어학자 ‘헬레나 노르베리 호지’가 저술한 ‘오래된 미래’에서 언어적 의미를 차용하였다. 콘크리트라는 재료는 현대 도시의 발전에서 긍정, 부정적인 측면을 모두 수용하고 있다, 과거로부터 사용된 콘크리트의 오랜 방식이 현재와 미래 환경에도 긍정적으로 활용될 수 있도록 ‘오래된 미래‘의 새로운 가능성을 제시하고자 하였다. 식재 조형물의 디자인은 자연과 생명을 상징하는 피보나치수열의 나선형 이미지를 디자인 메타포로 표현하였다. 식재 조형물의 재료인 UHPC는 철재의 생산에 비해 상대적으로 적은 탄소량을 유발하며, 제작 이후 공기 중의 탄소 포집의 기능과 식물의 통한 미세먼지와 이산화탄소 감소 등 도시환경의 개선 효과를 가진다. 이러한 시도를 통해 콘크리트와 식물의 디자인 신소재로서의 가치를 재조명하고, 대안적 디자인의 방법으로 활용되기를 기대한다. The purpose of this paper is to record the planning of exhibitions using UHPC(Ultra High Performance Concrete) and the process of designing sculptures, including plant planting, starting with a linguistic meaning and implementing symbolic images. The exhibition was divided into gray and green spaces, and the gray space was made only of concrete artificial structures, and a green space planted with plants was installed on the opposite side to create a dramatic contrast between the gray city and green nature in one space. The theme of the exhibition plan borrowed its linguistic meaning from the Old Future, written by Swedish linguist Helena Norbury Hodge. The material concrete embraces both positive and negative aspects of the development of modern cities, and it is intended to present new possibilities for the “old future” so that the old method of concrete used from the past can be used positively in the present and future environments. The design of the planting sculpture expresses the spiral image of the Fibonacci sequence, which symbolizes nature and life, as a design metaphor. UHPC, a material for plant sculptures, causes a relatively small amount of carbon compared to the production of steel, and has the effect of improving the urban environment, such as carbon capture in the air and reducing fine dust and carbon dioxide through plants. Through these attempts, it is expected that the value of concrete and plants as new design materials will be re-examined and used as an alternative design method.
