The Radionuclide test (RN test) using radioactively labelled human albumin microspheres was developed recently to evaluate the patency and functional capacity of the fallopian tubes. 57 infertile women underwent this procedure as a part of their infertility work up. The results of the radionuclide evaluation were compared with those of the hysterosalpingography (HSG) and further the surgical findings of the laparoscopy and laparotomy. In 64.9%(37/57) of the cases, there was complete agreement between radionuclide test (RN test), hysterosalpingography(HSG) and surgical findings. In comparison with surgical findings, RN test showed a complete agreement rate of 89.4%(51/57), a partial agreement rate of 5.3%(3/57) and no agreement rate of 5.3%(3/57), respectively. Likewise, HSG revealed a complete agreement rate of 80.7%(46/57), a partial agreement rate of 10.5%(6/57) and no agreement 8.8%(5/57), respectively. It would appear that as opposed to the traditional HSG, RN test may give a better understanding of the functional capacity of the tube and may prove a useful method before and after tubal surgery.

In this study, Pressure drops in a pipe according to cylinderical particle that has been calculated and analyzed. In general, it is used in a interior ballistic cylindrical particle shape. The analysis of 10 cases for Reynolds number has been conducted in 3 cases cylindrical particle. The results have been compared to the Erguns empirical equation which predicts pressure drop in pipe. To reduce difference between the Erguns empirical equation and the numerical results, calibration has been conducted.

Pressure drops of two-phase flow in a pipe according to particle shapes have been calculated and analyzed. The numerical analysis for 3 cases of Reynolds number has been conducted for each particle shape. In case of the cylinder shape, the particles had been assumed to be randomly distributed for each Reynolds number. The results haw been averaged and compared to those of the case of the ball shape. Additionally, pressure drops of ball and cylinder shapes has been compared to the result of Ergun’s equation.

Characteristics of the pressure drop in an expanded bed have been compared to those in a packed bed for numerical study of the in tel phase drag in gas-particle flows. A numerical analysis of the pressure drop by the particle drag has been conducted according to the tube-to-particle diameter ratios and Reynolds numbers for comparison. As the tube-to-particle diameter ratios increase at the same Reynolds number, the pressure drop tends to converge. It has been confirmed that characteristics of the pressure drop in the expanded bed are similar to those in the packed bed.

In this study, the Erguns equation has been verified in order to calculate pressure drop of the two phase flow. The equation had been used in the high Reynolds number region for interior ballistic analysis in spite of being verified in the low Reynolds number region. Therefore additional verification seems to be inevitable. Thus, the validity of the equation has been verified using CFD in the high Reynolds number cases of the diameter-particle ratio 10, 13 and 16.

To estimate the influence of plasma copper and zinc concentration on infertility, we measured copper and zinc levels in plasma of 117 infertile women and 14 infertile men by atomic absorption spectrophotometry from January, 1987 through June, 1987 and the results were as follows. 1. The mean plasma copper level was significantly lower in infertile women than in fertile control women while mean plasma zinc level significantly higher in infertile women than in fertile control women. 2. A significant difference in the mean plasma level between infertile women with tubal and endometrial factor and normal controls was noted. 3. The mean level of copper in plasma of azoospermic patients was significantly higher than in fertile control subjects. 4. In fertile control and infertile women, no diurnal and menstrual cyclic variations in plasma zinc and copper levels were present, respectively. Also, there were no significant correlation between plasma zinc and copper levels in all studied group of subjects.

Using the numerical code for the interior ballistics, the performance of the interior ballistics with the characteristics according to the position of the solid propellant in chamber has been investigated. In existing research, propellants have been evenly distributed in the chamber. In this study, however, several cases of the existence of empty space in the chamber at which the propellants are not evenly distributed are considered. The 7-perforated propellant configuration has been used in this research. The results have shown the change of performance of the interior ballistics according to solid propellant positions in the chamber.

A numerical code for the interior ballistics has been investigated. The method of the ghost cell extrapolation has been used for the moving boundary with the projectile movement. The porosity effect and the Ergun's Equation have been used in the numerical calculation for the grain combustion. The calculation results of the numerical code have been compared and verified through those of the lumped parameter mel hod. Computerization techniques of the numerical analysis for the interior ballistics have been developed.

The appearance of the negative differential pressure(NDP) between the breech pressure and the shot base pressure in the interior ballistics indicates that a risk of the serious damage on the barrel or the ammunition has increased. From this reason, the gun system must be designed to reduce the NDP during the ignition stage. So, the effect of the propellant configuration has been investigated on the NDP of the interior ballistics. In order to simulate the interior ballistics with, the gas-solid flow, the developed two-dimensional axi-symmetric code has been used with, the Eulerian-Lagrangian approach and the LSHUS method. The propellant geometry with, the progressive surface area has increased the NDP.
