This study aims to propose Green Remodelling methods of apartment houses in Korea. Through the literature review and case studies, various 'Green' Remodelling elements including environmental friendly technologies were identified and classified. Design strategies and remodeling techniques which could increase energy efficiency, reduce water and resource use, improve air quality, improve landscape management, and improve maintenance were also investigated. Then, 'Green remodelling' methods of apartment houses are proposed as the design methodology of remodeling for sustainable development.
냉방에너지 절감을 위한 공동주택 Attic 공간의 통풍계획

This study aims to present basic data of opening design in the attic space for cooling energy conservation. The quantity of inflow in the attic space under Seoul climatic condition were computed. Then, cooling energy consumptions at sample unit dwellings were analyzed and compared with non-attic unit dwelling. Finally, CFD simulation were conducted to present the indoor thermal environment when openings in the attic space allow outdoor air 0ACH to 15ACH. From this result optimal opening sizes in the attic space were proposed and cooling effect of ventilation in the attic space was conformed quantitatively.

This paper aims to propose the sustainable design process and strategies of the water system which is suitable for the environmental conditions of Jeju. Main concepts of sustainable water system are conservation of water resources, minimizing environment pollution, and natural harmony in water space. The rain water system integrated with greywater and biotopes could be proposed as a sustainable water system in jeju. It would be an alternative water source and promote conservation of ground water reducing the damages from storms and environmental pollution. The case study was conducted to investigate the efficiency and feasibility of the proposed design process in Jeju Island.

Educational facilities have to provide healthier, more effective learning environments for various education contents and teaching aids. During the past decade, remarkable studies have indicated a correlation between the classrooms environmental condition and student performance. Green design features can improve indoor environmental qualities and be used for educational purposes. Therefore, this study aims to propose design strategies for sustainable schools and indoor environment improvement. Field surveys were conducted to evaluate indoor environment such as thermal, visual, acoustic comfort and indoor air quality in elementary schools in Jeju. Comfort issues of classrooms were also exploded and analyzed. Then main factors affecting indoor comfort and student performance identified.

This study aims to suggest the basic data of the sustainable building design which is appropriate to Jeju environmental circumstance with integrated design method. Integrated building design is a process of design in which multiple disciplines of design are integrated to achieve high performance and multiple benefits at a lower cost than the total for all the components combined. In this study, people from different specialties such as designers, mechanical engineers, environmental consultants, builders and home owners participated in Sinhungli greenhouse project from the beginning of conceptual design. Field works, literature reviews, building load calculations were performed to identify solutions to design needs, environmental issues, water and energy conservation and the cost of construction.

This study aims to suggest the sustainable design strategies for environmental education facilities which can be educational tools in and of themselves. Existing environmental education facilities and education programs were investigated through literature search and field works. It shows that the educational potential of sustainable design features have significant values from an educational standpoint. Educational requirements and architectural features of environmental education facilities were identified and sustainable design criteria were proposed. A case study was also conducted to demonstrate how to apply the proposed design strategies in the real design process.
