This paper briefly surveys the background of rising Intelligent Design Movement of the late 20th century and points differences of IDM and creation science. The author argues that though IDM has its explicit limitations it has its own important merits comparing with creation science. Creation science has never attracted an attention of mainline scientists, but IDM has been criticized by them. Though not Christian movement, the author points that IDM has some advantage in battling against philosophical and methodological naturalism.

In this paper the author shows that there would be three major theories in creation-evolution debates: creation science as a young earth creationism, old earth creationism, theistic evolutionism. Each theory has its own problems. Young earth creationism conflicts with main stream science. Old earth creationism would have theological problems like death of animals before the fall of Adam and Eve. Theistic evolutionism has scientific problems as well as theological problems. Surveying the definition and nature of science, the author concludes that the creation-evolution debate is worldview debates.

Creation Science is based on the literal interpretation of the Scripture and fundamentalism. Characteristics of this movement are aggressive and militant, and reject established scientific theories and arguments. This attitude leads many Christians to be anti-intellectual and anti-cultural although they argue that they themselves pursue biblically and scientifically correct understanding of God"s creation. This paper searches the causes of these features of this movement by looking through the historical developments and theological background of this movement.

In this study, we performed monitoring of surface deformation before and after the 2006 eruption of Augustine volcano using GPS and InSAR techniques. The results of the GPS data processing clearly indicate inflation (9.7 cm/yr) and deflation (-9.2 cm/yr) around volcano crater. In addition, beginning in September, 2005, we can observe the extension of AV02 and AV03 baseline which is spanning Augustine"s summit from north to south. Especially, we can verify the subsidence phenomenon at north slope of Augustine volcano as a result of InSAR. These deformations are considered as the compaction effect of extrusive pyroclastic material at 1986 and 2006 eruptions. This result shows the possibility of integration of GPS and InSAR for monitoring and prediction of volcano activity.
