Objectives : The purpose of this case is to report the improvement of a patient with lymphedema due to axillary lymph node dissection after acupuncture therapy and herbal medicine. Methods : We treated the patient with Dong-Qi acupuncture, herbal medication(木通大安湯), lymph absorption massage, compresses, abdominal breathing. We measured the circumference of the patient's elbow and wrist every day at 6pm. Results : Since being hospitalized, the circumference of the patient' elbow and wrist has been decreased and VAS score has gotten lower gradually. Conclusions : We considered Dong-Qi acupuncture, herbal medication had a useful effect on lymphedema due to axillary lymph node dissection with lymph absorption massage, compresses, abdominal breathing.

굴곡신연법(屈曲伸延法)으로 시술한 요각통 환자 60례에 대한 임상적 고찰

Objectives : The purpose of this report is to estimate Cox flexion distraction treatment by comparing the Improvement of Sciatica treated by Cox flexion distraction treatment with Common treatment. Methods : This study was carried out on 60 patients with Sciatica who were hospitalized in Dongguk University Gyeongju Oriental Hospital from February, 2008 to December, 2008. Group A of 30 patients were taken both common treatment and Cox flexion distraction treatment. And Group B of 30 patients were only taken common treatment. And at treatment conclusion day, we checked and compared VAS(Visual Analogue Scale)and ODI(Oswestry disability index) out of these two group. SPSS(Statistical Program for Social Science) for Windows was used for a statistical analysis and the independent T-test was performed to gauge the improvement of VAS(Visual Analogue Scale)and ODI(Oswestry disability index) out of these two group, in which case, value of P below 0.05 is considered as useful. Results and Conclusions : The results of the VAS(Visual Analogue Scale)and ODI(Oswestry disability index) of comparison analysis between two group at treatment conclusion day, show that the improvement of Sciatica in common treatment with Cox flexion distraction treatment Group is more effective than that in common treatment.

한방병원에 입원한 교통사고 환자 500례에 대한 임상적 고찰

Objectives : The main purpose of this study is to find out the characteristic of patients admitted in the Oriental Medical Hospital due to traffic accident. Methods : 500 inpatients of traffic accident from Jan 1, 2005 to May 31, 2009 were analyzed according to medical charts. Results : The numbers of traffic accident patient in Oriental Medical Hospital in 2008 were bigger than in 2005. Most of patients were cared by western medicine right after accidents and several days later they started searching for oriental medical treatments. Most of the symptoms were not so severe at the beginning of the treatment. The method of the treatment were restricted by automobile insurance limitation in the field of oriental medicine. Conclusions : This study suggested that Oriental medical treatments are effective in traffic accident patients without surgical injury. Further studies are needed for progress report that after traffic accident patients are discharged from the Oriental Medical Hospital.

간정격 시술 및 생간건비탕 투여가 간기능 및 비만도 변화에 미치는 영향

Objectives : This study was aimed to figure out how effectively acupuncture treatment and herb-medicine work on patients with elevation of LFT value and lipid-obesity index. Methods : The subject were 23 patients visited to Dept. of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, Kwangdong Oriental Medicine Hospital, who complained chronic fatigue and wandering pain from Oct. 2007. to Oct. 2008. Before treatments, they were tested for LFT, total cholesterol, triglyceride, body fat ratio and obesity index. They were treated with Ganjeonggyeok acupuncture weekly for 1 month. During acupuncture treatments, we applied Sangkankunbi-tang to all patients twice a day. After 1 month, they were retested for LFT, total cholesterol, triglyceride, body fat ratio and obesity index. Results : 1. After treatments, we could get the result of dropping means of AST, ALT and γ-GTP value. Statistical significance of ALT and γ-GTP were recognized before and after treatments, but AST was not recognized. 2. After treatments, we also could get the result of dropping means of total cholesterol, triglyceride, body fat ratio and obesity index. Statistical significance of all values were recognized before and after treatments. 3. Among 23 patients, 10 cases were reported that they were not within normal limits at least one in AST, ALT and γ-GTP. After treatments of those patients, we could get the result of dropping means of AST, ALT and γ-GTP value. Statistical significance of all values were recognized before and after treatments. 4. Among 23 patients, 19 cases were reported that they were not within normal limits at least one in total cholesterol, triglyceride, body fat ratio and obesity index. After treatments of those patients, we could get the result of dropping means of total cholesterol, triglyceride, body fat ratio and obesity index. Statistical significance of all values were recognized before and after treatments. Conclusions : Though further study is necessary, our finding suggest that the conduction of Ganjeonggyeok acupuncture and Sangkankunbi-tang treatments have helped to decrease the figures of LFT and lipid-obesity index in patients.

동씨침을 이용한 양성 발작성 체위성 현훈환자 치험 1례

Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo(BPPV) is a common disorder that peripheral vertigo in clinic, it is provoked Paroxysmal vertigo according to positional change. A man, aged 75, suffered from attacks of vertigo when get out of bed, He complained vertigo, nausea and walking trouble So he visited our clinic. Based upon the case history and position-provoked vertigo with characteristic findings on the Dix-Hallpike maneuver, we diagnosed as BPPV. Through only Shang-San-Huang(上三黃) of Dong Shi Xue(董氏穴) acupuncture therapy symptoms were vanished completely. This study was showed effect that operating only Dong-Shi acupuncture therapy without maneuver therapy and the other therapies to patient can not tolerate the Dix-Hallpike Maneuver. We need additional researches with methodological improvement and many clinical cases.
